Matchbook Notebook Wedding Favor

Having a casual wedding? You’ll still need nice party favors to give each guest as a “thank-you” gift. Even if you’re on a tight budget the party favors you give can still be really nice – and useful. Make matchbook notebooks and you’ll give your guests a fun favor that looks like a regular matchbook but is really a tiny tablet.

You won’t have any trouble finding card stock in a color which is featured in your wedding. White, pink, blue, yellow – cardstock comes in many different colors and is not expensive.

Cut a piece of cardstock to be 4 ¼”x1 /2″. Turn the paper so that one short side is facing you. Fold the edge facing you up a half-inch to make the bottom of the matchbook. Crease the fold very well. It can be helpful to rake across the fold with a bone folder, or a hard object, like the side of a pair of scissors.

At the opposite end, fold the cardstock edge over 2″. Make another fold which is a quarter-inch away from the 2″ fold. These folds will make the top of the matchbook. Crease all folds very well.

Cut about a dozen pieces of unlined paper to make the notebook. Cut the pieces to be slightly smaller, all the way around, than the back of the matchbook. Stack the tiny pieces of paper and position them between the layers of the matchbook at the bottom. Position the stapler over the bottom of the matchbook and the paper, and staple it once.

If the tiny notebooks just aren’t large enough to suit you try making a matchbook which is about the same height but twice as wide. This version might require two staples to hold the paper.

When you’re finished stapling in the note paper decide on the design for the front of each matchbook. You can use a monogram sticker, a rubber stamp image or you can just write the names of the married couple on the front with a marker.

The tiny notebook is a nice party favor but there are other things you can put in the matchbook besides note paper. Staple in a piece of individually-wrapped candy, a tiny poem or sentiment on a piece of paper, or even a stack of stickers.

Just because you’re having a casual wedding doesn’t mean that the party favors won’t be nice. You can spend very little money and still give out wonderful party favors which all of the guests will love.
