MAC Collections Review: MAC Me Over

Mac Cosmetics is an internationally known makeup brand that has been making waves for more than 15 years. One thing is certain, MAC is very well known for being incredibly creative yet ingenious, producing only the hottest collections in the world today. MAC’s MAC Me Over Collection was introduced Aug. 25, 2011, in North America and will be introduced internationally in September 2011. Recently, when shopping at the MAC counter at the Tyson’s Corner Mall, I had the opportunity to check out this collection.

For this particular collection, MAC Me Over, MAC has managed to introduce not one, but eight new gorgeous shades. These shades include Secret Lover, Peachstock, Offshoot, Oh Oh Oh, Rebel, Prince Noir, Smoked Purple and Runaway Red. My favorite is definitely Secret Lover, which is a stunning pale pink lustre with a yellow undertone. Unlike most collections that MAC has introduced in recent months, this collection includes lustres, satins, cremes, and matte finishes. You can purchase MAC’s lipstick for just $14.50 at your nearest MAC counter or on the official website, maccosmetics.com.

What is a collection without MAC’s famous lip product, MAC lipglass? Another reason to not only love, but appreciate MAC’s MAC Me Over Collection is the fact that it possesses seven new lipglass shades that you are destined to love. The shades include Illicit, Social Light, Curvaceous, Plum Fun, The Wee Coquette, Good Times, and Spite. I absolutely love almost every shade and when I visited the MAC counter at the Tyson’s Corner Mall in McLean, Va., I had the opportunity to buy Curvaceous (very light cool pink), Good Times (pale mauve pink), and Social Light (pink pearl nude). Whether you are shopping at your nearest MAC retailer or counter or even on the official website, you are going to love this product. You can buy Lipglass for just $14.50.

When it comes to this precise makeup collection, MAC Me Over by MAC, there is one thing to be said about it. It is one of the few that MAC has introduced this year alone that offers a wide-range, variety of products, making it extremely universal, as a result. There is a lot to be said about a collection that offers more than just a few products, etc. One of the products that MAC Me Over offers is two lip liners. Available for just $13 in “Spice” (a gorgeous pink brown shade) and in “Chesnut” (an intense brown shade) you cannot go wrong with MAC’s lip lining products.

I have tried so many different eyeshadows and I have come to the conclusion that if I had to make a top five list of the best eyeshadows I have ever used, MAC without question, would be at the top of the list. Not only are they extremely pigmented, producing a color payoff that is simply astonishing, these eyeshadows are long-lasting and have minimal fallout. MAC Me Over has managed to introduce six new shades. These shades include: Creamy Bisque, Moleskin, Outre, Satin Taupe, Mythical, and Carbonized. They are all neutral colors, so they will go with every eye color, as well as, skin tone. I actually bought Creamy Bisque (gorgeous ivory pearl frost), Carbonized (dark brown frost), and Satin Taupe (Taupe with silver shimmer frost). You can purchase MAC’s eyeshadows for just $15 at your nearest MAC retailer or on the official website, maccosmetics.com. If you have never used MAC’s eyeshadows, you are truly missing out.

MAC’s MAC Me Over Collection introduced two new quad eyeshadow palettes. They include the “Evil Eye Eyeshadow Quad” and the “Lady Grey Eyeshadow Quad”. The Evil Eye Eyeshadow Palette includes the eyeshadows Evil Eye (deep gray matte with a yellow undertone), Palace Pedigreed (soft pink matte), Spellcaster (deep violet matte), and Moody (black green pearl). The Lady Grey Eyeshadow Palette includes the eyeshadows All Races (cool light mauve taupe matte), Tendersmoke (muted lilac with silver undertone), Lady Grey (frosted grey with green undertone and satin finish), and Hazy Day (grey pearl). These eyeshadow quads both retail for about $38 and are both limited edition.

Shadesticks are an original product created by MAC. They are a multi-use product, as they not only work as an eyeliner, but an eyeshadow, as well as, eyeshadow base. Also, depending on the shade you purchase, they can also work as a luminizer, as well as, lipstick. Recently, as a part of the MAC Me Over Collection, MAC has managed to present individual MAC users with five stunning new shades. The shades include Butterynutty, Cakeshop, Tundra, Heirloom, and Street Cool. I had the pleasure of checking out all of them and purchasing Tundra (gorgeous icy silver) and Butternutty (amazing light beige champagne). You can purchase MAC shadesticks at your nearest MAC retailer or on the official website for just $17.50.

Fluidline is a gel liner produced by Mac Cosmetics. It is one of the first gel liners ever produced in the beauty industry, making it an amazing beauty essential. Not only is fluidline easy to use, it is long-lasting after it dries and does not make a mess like other products. I have never been a gel liner enthusiast until a few years ago and since them, it is practically one of my favorite liners to use, if not my favorite. For the MAC Me Over Collection, Mac Cosmetics has managed to introduce four new fluidline shades. These shades include: Dark Diversion, Avenue, Midnight Blues, and Dark Envy. Out of the four, I purchased Avenue (which is a stunning charcoal black with gold pigments). You can purchase MAC’s Fluidline at your nearest MAC retailer on Mac cosmetics.com for just $15. I am thinking of going back to the MAC counter and purchasing Dark Diversion. What do you think?

What is a makeup collection without kohl liner? The MAC Me Over Collection offers eye kohls for just $15 in two stunning new shades. These shades include “Teddy” (which is an intense bronze shade) and “Smolder” (which is an intense black shade). I have to admit that MAC’s eye kohls tend to give a lot of eye pencil based liners a run for their money, so I was not hesitant to pick up Smolder.

MAC is a beauty brand that is exciting. It’s audacious, yet practical and remains to be one of my favorite makeup brands in the world. For the MAC Me Over Collection, MAC has produced two new, limited edition Cream Colour Bases. These Cream Colour Bases include: “Take Root” (a very rich reddish brown) and “Seaside” (a subtle, yet natural peachy rose). I had the opportunity to pick up Seaside and I just love it. Not only is it pigmented, but it is long-lasting. It’s also non-comedogenic, so I did not break out from it. MAC’s Cream Colour Bases are just $17.

The idea of introducing new shades, as well as, products is exciting. It is a reason why MAC is never boring. Another reason to love this collection is the fact that MAC has managed to introduced two gorgeous new blush shades with satin finishes that are limited edition. They are “Equilibrium” (beautiful light bronze) and “Stunner” (stunning coral pink). They look beautiful in pictures on the internet, however; they are much more beautiful in person. You can purchase MAC’s Blush for just $19.50 on maccosmetics.com or your nearest MAC counter.

I have noticed that some makeup collections forget products for nails. When it comes to MAC’s MAC Me Over Collection, MAC has definitely managed to prove not to neglect the nails, offering four new shades of Nail Lacquer. These shades include: Purple Majesty, Deep Sea, Quiet Time, and Fatigues. These are all cream based and all limited edition shades, as well. You can purchase MAC’s Nail Lacquer at your nearest MAC retailer and of course, on the official website. It is just $15.

With this collection, MAC has introduced three brushes, which vary in price. The 211, the 214, and the 226 brush. You can find these brushes on the official website, maccosmetics.com.

Overall, I loved the MAC Me Over Collection simply because there were an array of new product shades introduced, as well as, new products. When it comes to any kind of collection, especially a makeup collection, the key is being universal and that is exactly what MAC did. I was also impressed with MAC’s MAC Me Over Collection simply because the marketing concept of the collection involved real people who are Mac Cosmetic enthusiasts, rather than banally Photoshopped models.
