Some reporters, commentators and journalist have been stuck on the premise regarding how long it will take to bury Libya’s deceased dictator. Like many leading stories, the need for drama is great so they play it up as something that could have grave consequences not only for Libya but for the United States. It appears that our news media has been infected by the Hollywood Bug.
Mommar Khaddafy’s body is reportedly still in Misrata and is laid out for those who wish to see his life-less body. The freezer, where the body is supposed to be, may feel cold to many but to those who have endured Khaddafy’s wrath for 42 years, it’s as warm as the summer sun. Khaddafy’s body should remain there as long as there are people lined up to see it because they deserve this closure. The rebels are attempting to make sure that the people of Libya can close this chapter of their lives and go on without worrying that he still exists. These citizens began this revolution with shovels, pitchforks and rubber pistols and all those who wish to do now is to see the fruit of their labor.
The Libyan rebels have already answered the question regarding the problem that NATO may have getting a handle on the loose weapons that our news media is making such a big stink about. It was reported today but I seriously doubt that anyone heard it when one of the rebels said he would be more than happy to get back to construction work. What that should mean too many is this is the opening and the opportunity the Libya government/counsel need to replace assault rifles with shovels and tanks with earth moving equipment. Libya could call it “Weapons for Work Program” where those that turn in their weapons are given jobs to rebuild their country and those who discover and report large cache of weapons are rewarded with a contract with that government.
The citizens seem unafraid of Khaddafy loyalist retaliation and in one report, it was already mentioned how those who fought for Khaddafy was allowed to leave as long as they dropped their weapons. I truly do not believe that there will be any retaliation because of two very important reasons. The majority of those fighting for Khaddafy did so because they were being paid. If their employer is dead and can no longer pay them, they really do not have a reason to fight. The family of Khaddafy will probably not rise up because they have already lost too many of their family members to this plight and will probably choose not to sacrifice any more. That’s just my opinion and I could be wrong.
