Keep Your Brain Active and Healthy

Keeping your brain active is one of the most important things you can do for yourself. The brain determines everything you do, say, think and how you act in every possible situation. If you want to be the best you can be, you have to optimize your brain function. Here are four ways that can help you achieve that goal.

Get involved in new activities

Doing activities such as playing cards, gardening, reading books and painting have a positive impact on the brain, but you need to find some activities that will be challenging for you. Instead of doing the thing that I mentioned, try to push yourself to do certain gardening techniques, play cards against more experienced players that will force you to think faster and read books from various authors on different themes.

Try to have an active social life

I would recommend that you start participating in clubs or groups that share your common interests. If you enjoy reading books, join a group where you can discuss about your favorite books. Or you can join some online discussion groups. Find the topic that you are interested in and join the discussion.

Play online games

If you want to stay mentally sharp, you have to give your brain a workout. One of the best ways to do this is to play online games that pit you against the time. When you have a limited amount of time to accomplish the main task, your mind is forced to think fast. There are many online games that can give your brain a workout – I think that hidden object games are perfect for this purpose. They are fun, most of them have an interesting story and offer solving a different puzzles. Just be careful – these games can be so addictive.

Meditate

The brain needs some time to rid itself of everyday worries. Doing a meditation may allow you to clear your mind. So, try to spend five minutes to relax and meditate. I’m not saying that you should sit on the floor with your legs crossed. It would be enough if you just close your eyes and focus on the breathing. If you find that some thoughts are interrupting your meditation, just say “no” to them. Cut them off. Focus only on the breathing.

Try to use any of these techniques to boost your brain power. After a while, you’ll start to notice some positive changes in your mind.
