John Rich to Give Benefit Concert for Local YMCA–$500 Tickets?

John Rich, a country music star announced that he will host a benefit concert at his home in Nashville, TN to benefit the Dickson County Family YMCA. The concert will take place on October 18, 2011.

Rich, who is known for being very charitable, is not only giving a benefit concert for a good cause, but hosting it at his home, Mt. Richmore.

I’ve been a country music fan for many years. I’ve been to other benefit concerts given for various reasons by other country music artists. This one seems to reach out to only the elite though as ticket prices are quite steep at $500 each. Oh, and if you want the star treatment, you can get a VIP ticket for $1,000. Needless to say, I guess this is one way to raise money for the cause and keep the crowd down at your house all at the same time.

I still don’t understand why Rich didn’t get a venue to donate the space for a night and reach out to more people with his good deed. Is this a project that he signed on for just to make the news? I’m sure John Rich is doing this for the right reason, after all he graduated from Dickson County High School.

It just seems to be a snub to most country music fans in my opinion. Most people can’t afford the steep ticket prices. Then again, he will probably draw a crowd of other country music artists and sell a couple hundred tickets. A good time will be had. Dickson County YMCA will get the funds needed to do whatever they need to do with the donation.

Since I don’t live in the Nashville, TN area, I won’t have the chance to attend the benefit concert. But at these prices, it doesn’t matter if I lived there or not. I wouldn’t be able to afford to buy one ticket, let alone another one for my husband.

I’ll be listening for an update on this big dollar benefit concert. I want to hear all the details. I guess I should just be thankful that John Rich has a big heart and he is doing something good for a nice organization, right?

Oh, I almost forgot. You can contact YMCA Operations if you want to buy a ticket at 615-521-2477.
