I came upon a water spring
Its running sounds alerted me
I tested the temperature with my finger
The refreshing taste did cause me to linger
At first I was alone in the woods
Surrounded by leaves of orange, yellow, green
A doe did join me to quench its thirst
Away in the distance, her tail did twitch
She continued to drink without a flinch
Her quiet beauty did beckon to me
To watch her drink from the water, knee deep
Eye to eye, we watched each other
She saw that I did not threaten her
