How to Stop Procrastinating

Stop Procrastination

If you often rush to meet a deadline or wait for to the last minute to do anything, you are not alone. Many people have fallen victim to procrastination. This habit stops us from being successful in life. Here are five steps that will help you stop procrastinating and take control of your life.

1.Make a To-Do List
Making an outline will help you get organized, plan what you need to get done and help keep you on task.

2.Stay on task

It is easy to get distracted, especially if you do not want to do something. For example, only check your email or Facebook every one or two hours instead of every few minutes. Also, put your phone on silent or vibrate and turn off the TV.

3.Take Small Steps

Procrastination is often caused by feeling overwhelmed. If you break your work into small steps, then that increases the possibility of you getting it done. Most importantly, set deadlines for those steps. Creating a timeline for the steps will decrease the likelihood of procrastination.

4. Have a Work-Friendly Environment

Look at your work space. Make sure it encourages productivity and not laziness.

5. Get Started

Planning is meaningless if you do not put your plans into action. Do not wait for everything to line up perfectly, because it never will. Nothing will get accomplished if you do not start, because this and that happened. It is impossible to procrastinate your way to success.
