How to Make a Winter Blanket

So it is almost fall and winter seasons and everyone is wanting to have a warm, cozy blanket to lay over them, right? Well here is a guide to make the perfect blanket for anyone! The only materials that are needed are the fabric for two different sides, crafting scissors, a 4×4 piece of paper, and a tape measure or a ruler.

To start off, the first thing to do is to go to your local “Hobby Lobby” store or somewhere that sells fleece fabric or whichever type of fabric that you want your blanket to be made out of. There are many types of fabric and there are also many different designs to choose from. Hobby Lobby has a big selection of different types of fabric and designs that anyone would love! The first one that I made was a light brown on the back side and a camouflage with deer on the front. The first step after purchasing the fabric is to take a 4×4 piece of paper and put it at each corner and cut off that amount off of all of the four corners. This is done to make sure that the corners won’t look too messy whenever the blanket is finished.

The second step to complete would be to take the ruler/tape measure, whichever one, and measure out 1 inch apart and put a little snip into the fabric on each side. Start from one of the corners and work your way around. This is the easiest way to make sure that the blanket will be even on each end. After making sure that there are cuts 1 inch apart on the one side, then take the tape measure and measure 4 inches in. So the thing to do would be to cut 1 inch apart and 4 inches deep into the fabric all the way around.

Once this is completed, it gets easier. After the cuts have all been made all the way around then start from any corner and start tying knots into the fabric. The way to do this is to take the top piece of the blanket and the bottom piece of the blanket and take the pieces that were cut and double knot them so that they stay together. Once this is completed, take every other one on the front side and tie it like this. Once the knots are tied on every other one all the way around, then flip the blanket over and tie the remaining knots into the blanket. After all of the knots are tied, then the blanket can be used to keep warm all winter long. These types of blankets make great gifts for anyone in immediate family or just friends. The cost of fabric varies from place to place but be prepared to spend about 30 dollars per blanket. It is no more expensive than having to go out and buy a blanket at your local Wal-Mart or anywhere else like that. Now, make away on your first blanket!
