How to Get Rid of Dark Puffy Eyes

There are several different things that can cause your eyes to look tired and puffy such as a lack of sleep, illness, allergies, sinus infections, drinking too much caffeine, crying or even heredity. Because of this you may not be able to completely get rid of your dark puffy eyes without resorting to cosmetic surgery, but there are some things that you can do to minimize or reduce the appearance of dark puffy eyes.

Get More Sleep:

According to WebMD one of the best ways to get reduce the appearance of dark puffy eyes is also one of the easiest and that is by getting enough sleep at night. Many people are sleep deprived due to the fact that we lead such busy active lives and while you may get by with less sleep when you’re in your teens and early twenties this will eventually tell on your face.

Reduce Your Salt Intake:

Consuming too much salt can cause you to retain water which in turn can cause puffy eyes.

Avoid Alcohol And Caffeine:

Alcohol and caffeine both cause dehydration which in turn also causes dark circles and puffy eyes.

Use Cool Compresses:

Covering your puffy eyes with cooled cucumber slices, a chilled spoon or frozen tea bags are all great ways to help reduce your puffy eyes. Probably my favorite would have to be the frozen tea bag and the reason that the tea bag works so well is because the tannins in the tea bags constrict blood vessels and help to tighten the skin around your eyes.

Use An Extra Pillow:
Something else that help is to use an extra pillow at night to prop up your head. This will allow the fluid to drain and may improve the appearance of your puffy eyes.

Try An Injectable Filler:
For results that last around 9 months or so you might want to try Injectable fillers like Restylane and Juvederm. The filler which is injected right under the puffy area helps to even out the puffiness and give the appearance of a younger looking eye.

Consider Cosmetic Surgery:
Although it can be a little expensive cosmetic surgery is also one of the longest lasting solutions for puffy eyes. Also called a surgical eyelift this procedure is done by inserting a small electronic probe into the puffy area to melt the fat, results can last for 20 or more years.
