How to Gain Confidence with Yourself and with Women

It seems as though with dating, confidence is the name of the game. If you don’t have the confidence you end up as the shy guy with no dating experience. Back when I was 50 pounds overweight, I felt the same way. Even today, I go through shy moments, but I’m gradually building up confidence so that I don’t see myself as the socially awkward guy who can’t find love. If you are in this category there are a couple of subtle things you can do to increase your confidence.

The first thing you can do is get rid of negative thinking. Who cares if you think you are ugly, fat, dumb, and unlovable. Others may have different perspectives of you, but you will never know if you keep putting yourself down. Most of the time us guys never go for the girl we like because they couldn’t possibly “want a guy like us”. Stereotyping yourself in the corner is one of the worst things you could do. Instead look at your positive features and your accomplishments throughout life. Use those to aspects of life to determine who you are as a person and grow from there.

The second thing you should do is not compare yourself to anyone. You are you, not the Glen Quagmire from “Family Guy” of the world. Never say, why I can’t I be so and so to get chicks? Everyone has their own way of finding the apple of their eye and you need to find the reason why you would approach a girl and then find your niche. Never compare yourself to a television character. Why? Because they are fake. They read scripts. Even “The Real World” has writers. Don’t fall into that trap and try to become another persona. Girls can smell the fake all over you.

The last thing you should do is practice. It may be cliche, but practice makes perfect. This may be the hardest thing thing for a shy person to do, but it will work help drastically. I have homework for you. Whenever you see a girl of your liking give them a gesture towards her to know that you acknowledge her presence. This doesn’t mean stare at her and when she looks at you look away. This means when she looks at you, give her a smile. This can gradually go to a nice hello and later to an introduction. You’ll never know if you don’t try.
