Homemade Liquid Dish Soap Recipe

For many, saving money is the main concern, while for others, the satisfaction that comes with making your own is the priority. If you are tired of spending your hard-earned money on dish soap or maybe you don’t like the ingredients in the store bought dish soaps, you can make your own. Homemade dish soap is as effective in cleaning dishes as commercially available dish soaps.

Grate 1 cup of pure soap with a cheese grater or food processor to a fine powder. Choose Ivory soap or Castile soap for best results.

Add 6 cups of water to a pot on the stove and bring the water to a boil.

Pour the grated soap into the boiling water and stir continuously until the soap dissolves.

Let the melted soap and water cool for 15 to 20 minutes.

Pour 1 cup of glycerin into the soap and water and 2 1/2 tablespoons of lemon or orange essential oil.

Whip the ingredients together with a whisk or hand mixer set on a low speed. Let the dish soap cool to room temperature and then blend again with a whisk or hand mixer.

Pour the dish soap into a squeeze bottle or pump soap dispenser. Pour the remaining dish soap into a container with a lid to store. Clearly label the containers with all ingredients.
