Five Healthy and Quick Snacks to Give You a Boost

It’s the middle of the afternoon and there’ still a few hours till dinner, but your stomach is performing the grumbling sonnet and you feel you need to eat something. However, you don’t want to ruin how good your diet and healthy choices have been going all day.

Here’s a list of quick snacks that will give you both a full feeling in your stomach and won’t hurt your waistline. Enjoy!

1. Apples and Peanut Butter — Looking for something sweet and salty? Look no further. Apples have that delicious, juicy crunch and peanut butter provides a complement of protein and that nutty goodness. Switch it up with a fat-free or low-fat caramel dip if you’re eyeing the taffy apple in the vending machine.

2. Almonds with Chocolate Chips — I always keep a jar of these handy for a quick snack when my stomach starts to growl. Almonds are a great source of protein and very rich in Vitamin E. They’ve been proven to help with your complexion too! And who doesn’t love just a taste of chocolate? Try dark chocolate chips if you have them available, but be sure to savor that chocolatey goodness.

3. Egg with Miracle Whip — Pretty much, make yourself a little bowl of egg salad. Skip the full-fat mayo and try Miracle Whip or a lower-fat option instead. Same great taste, less calories. An egg will keep you focused for the next few hours, especially if you eat it slowly with a spoon or fork. Avoid the crackers and bread and just enjoy the egg.

4. Carrot Sticks and Lowfat Dressing — Everyone knows how good carrots are for your eyesight, so why not eat a lot of them? This little snack is great because it takes a while to chew, which will help you feel fuller, faster. The key is to choose a dressing — normally Ranch — that isn’t loaded with a billion calories. Just use the dip as a flavor, remember, it’s the carrots you’re eating with dip, not dip with carrots.

5. Tomatoes with Shredded Romano — Slice up a tomato (or half some cherry ones) and sprinkle with a touch of shredded Romano cheese. Parmesan or your other favorite works too! With harder cheeses, feel free to just eat plain, or try zapping it in the microwave for a few seconds to melt and warm the tomatoes. Delicious!
