Epic Poker’s Second Tournament Ends Day Two with 23

After a successful inaugural tournament in August, the Epic Poker League returned to the Palms Casino in Las Vegas to host their second tournament of the season. Once again, due the league draws the world’s best players to their setting. The players need no first names: Hellmuth, Dwan, Rheem, Seidel, Esfandiari, and the list goes on.

With a total prize pool of just over $2.3 million, the top 12 finishers will earn cash with the winner receiving $762,410. David “Chino” Rheem, however, earned $1 million for his first place finish in Epic Poker’s inaugural event. At the conclusion of Day 2 play, Rheem was still amongst the 23 survivors heading into Day 3 of the Main Event. Joining Rheem will also be his inaugural main event final table heads-up opponent, Erik Seidel.

Among the highlights that will start Day 3 play are its top five chip leaders: Fabrice Soulier – $435,500; David Steicke – $436,000; Erik Seidel – $353,500; Nam Le – $306,000; Matt Marafioti – $302,000. With the flip of card and a quick call, fortunes can change. With each day of play, over half of the field is diminished. With final table action to begin on Friday, September 9, Day 3 play looks to once again thin out the remaining players by more than half.

By the main event’s final day of play, eight remaining players will start. It remains to be seen just how long into the night Day 3 play will be in its search for the final eight.
