Easy Hat Holders

Guys and women who love to wear hats do so often. Before they know it some people have quite a collection of hats. You might start out with one hat, and hang it on a hook when it’s not being worn, but then you end up with a large amount of hats and nowhere to put them. You can’t just toss them here and there; you need a hat stand – maybe many hat stands. Don’t run to the store for supplies; go to your kitchen to find what you need.

There are different ways to make hat holders when you use plastic bowls. Choose a bowl which is close in size to the hat. The hat should easily fit over the bottom of the bowl. Just turn the bowl upside-down and set the hat on it.

Make a hat display by starting with a plank of wood. Turn bowls over and attach them to the wood to use as hat holders. You can use double-sided tape, glue dots, or another adhesive to secure them to the wood. Use an assortment of bowls to display the hats but just make sure that there is enough space between each bowl to allow for the hats.

When you stack bowls you can make a different type of hat display. Stack bowls, set a hat on them, then make another stack and set it beside the first one. Make as many stacks as you want and, to create interest, make them different heights. Stand them side-by-side or arrange the stacks in a different manner, grouping them or spacing them out around a certain room. You’ll use less bowls if you use “spacers” like a block of wood between each set of bowls.

Although plastic bowls are really cheap at a dollar-theme store, and look adorable as hat stands, there are other ways to make hat stands without using bowls. One such way is to use a cardboard tube from a roll of gift wrap. Wrap a Styrofoam ball in plastic wrap and secure it with a rubber band or tape. Glue the tube to a square of wood or cardboard. Set the Styrofoam on the tube so that the taped or banded end is inside the tube. Secure the tube and ball with tape. Now set the hat on the finished stand.

If you’ve suddenly realized that your hat collection is growing quickly why not make some hat stands? Use them as a display or just set them up to hold your hats in your bedroom or other area of the house. They’re useful and easy to make.
