Don’t Be Afraid: Learning to Confront Your Fears

Fear is something that is not welcome in the human heart but more often than not, unmistakably prevails there. It withstands logic, battles confidence, and mocks any sense of security we might have. Have you ever considered just how afraid we are and how we can get rid of it?

People Who Fear

There are many reasons and countless explanations as to why a person may feel fear filled or unsafe. Reflecting on my own sense of awareness, I realize that fear is caused by just that: too much awareness. While it is good to be aware of people, things, and circumstances around you, there comes a point when too much is simply too much. Some people focus on what could happen to so great of an extent that they find it very difficult to put these bad thoughts to rest -ever. In a normal situation, I would suggest that they keep busy so that their minds do not wander off so much; however, from my own experiences, I can honestly say that for some people, fear is a deadly snare that keeps them constantly on guard. It makes them extremely uneasy even though they carry around a phone and their doors are locked at all times.

In my opinion, constant fear is not living but merely existing. When a person is consumed by fear, he can not enjoy the people and things around him because his fears turn into constant worrying. If anything should eventually happen, he wasted all the good times when he had no reason to be concerned.

In reality, if a person is fully aware of things around him and has done his best to prepare himself, then he should neither fear nor worry. In a sense, he’ll have the upper hand because he’s lived in the possibility of the thing occurring for quite some time.

Get Rid of Fear

If you are a real man or woman, then you have absolutely no excuse and no reason why you should fear. Don’t let anyone instill this griping disease in you and know that is exactly what they want you to do. Perhaps it’s easier said than done. So what can you do in order to make yourself not as afraid and worry less about things? First of all, don’t feed onto your weakness. In other words, wherever you are now with fear filled thoughts and ideas, do not allow it to get any worse. That’s the first step of mastering your fear and anxiety levels. Once you’ve successfully achieved this, you must keep telling yourself that there’s nothing to be afraid of and that you are much stronger than your fears and possible aggressors. When it comes down to it, you will perform best in a crisis situation if you are calm and collected so practice this every time you get scared and eventually, you will see a major difference in how you handle your fears.

An important reminder is not to forget your inner strength, give in, or freeze up. If you do this, you will only do yourself more harm than good so try your best to get rid of your fears and worries today.
