Off for lunch on this particular day,
to his favorite coffee shop, he’s on his way.
He walked in the door to find one vacant chair,
next to the most beautiful creature with flowing red hair.
He headed to the counter to order his meal.
As he strutted, her eyes on him he could feel.
Across the room, she had his full attention.
“You should go say ‘hello’” the cashier had to mention.
He grabbed his tray, and she felt butterflies,
admiring his smile and deep sea green eyes.
He arrived at her table and confidently stated:
“Is this seat taken?” “No” she articulated.
He sat down and asked “How are you?” with a grin.
“Fantastic” she answered “ever since you walked in”.
Before they knew it, an hour had passed.
Talking and laughing, time flies by fast.
As it did fifteen years ago, at this very location
when they first met, and were overcome with adoration.
“Time to head back…” he said with a smirk,
“I love you” she said “I’ll see you after work.”
