Cincinnati’s Annual Tree Lighting Will Take Place on November 25

Cincinnati’s annual tree lighting “Macy’s Light Up the Square” will be held on Friday, November 25, beginning at 6:30 p.m. A live television broadcast on Channel 5 will begin at 7 p.m.

Join thousands of others on Fountain Square as Cincinnati officially welcomes the holiday season. The event will feature music from Timeflies as well as a time for ice skating.

At 7 p.m., hosts Brian Douglas of Q102 and Sheree Paolello of WLWT, Channel 5 will emcee live from P&G’s Music Stage.

Santa will also make a special appearance and Mayor Mark Mallory will light the tree. The lighting will be followed by fireworks. The event is free to attend. For more information, visit www.myfountainsquare.com.

For those who cannot attend, Channel 5 will showcase the highly-anticipated annual event during a live 30-minute broadcast starting at 7 p.m. In 2010, the tree sparkled with 25,000 white lights and a five-foot-tall red star. The tree was among the tallest holiday trees ever on the Square, measuring 65 feet base to tip.
