Christmas Tree Ornaments Using Old CDs

Don’t throw away those old CDs that have scratches or you no longer listen to. You can transform these old discs into some bright and cheerful Christmas tree ornaments This craft is easy, takes little time and you can use paint, fabric, marking pens, buttons and beads that you have taking up space in an old storage box.

Paint the CDs

Spray paint the CDs in different holiday colors. Spray some of them silver, gold, red and green. Lay out your newspaper or an old sheet and line up your CDs on top. Paint one side of the CD and allow to dry thoroughly. Give the CDs another coat of paint and let completely dry. turn the CDs over and repeat this process. With your marking pen you can add family member names on each CD and holiday greetings.

Decorate the CDS

Here is where the fun and your creative expression comes into play. Glue on bright fabric swatches on both sides of the CD.Glue on a row of beads or buttons all around the edges of each CD. Randomly glue on glass beads to add sparkle to the ornament. Another idea is that you can add rows of colorful ribbon by just gluing on horizontal lines of the ribbon.

Hanging the CD

Take a 6 inch strip of ribbon and make a loop. Join the ends of the loop and glue on to the disc. Allow th dry and hang your CD.
