Christmas Events in Detroit Michigan

This year Detroit will host several Christmas events throughout the metro area. There will be something for everyone from the young to the old. Below are some events that are sure to brighten up your holiday season.

Holiday Trees and Breakfast with Santa

This Christmas season, the Detroit Zoo will sponsor its annual ‘Holiday Trees and Breakfast with Santa’ from November 19th to January 2nd. The Detroit Zoo will have their trees dressed up with lots of sparkly ornaments and lights that your family is sure to enjoy. You can also enjoy the animals that are out and also see the ones inside that wish to stay warm. There will be a special gift for each child. On three Saturdays: December 3rd, 10th and 17th you will have the opportunity to have a buffet style breakfast with Santa. The breakfast is located at the Zoo’s Wildlife Interpretive Gallery. The breakfast will be from 8 am to 10 am. Reservation is required for the breakfast. The cost is $20 to $30 per person. The Detroit Zoo is located at 8450 W 10 Mile Road in Royal Oak, Michigan.

Holidays Homes Tour & Holiday Nights

Henry Ford Greenfield Village located at 20900 Oakwood Blvd. in Dearborn, MI will sponsor Holidays Homes Tour & Holiday Nights. This is the most popular Christmas holiday event in the Detroit area. There will be live entertainment which will include the Christie Street Carolers, the Main Street Carolers, the Dodworth Saxhorn Band, the Festival Singers and Neil Woodward to name a few. There will a horse drawn wagon and model T rides. There will also be costumed presenters, holiday shops, Santa with a live reindeer, fireworks, ice skating and much more. The cost of the event is: member adult and youth ages 13 & up, $14.50: member youth ages 5-12; $12.75: non member adult $17 and non member youth $15. Children 4 & under are free. The event will take place Dec 2-3, 9-10, 16-23 and 26-27, 2011. The hours are from 6:30 pm to 10:00 pm.

Wayne County Lightfest 2011

The Wayne County Parks presents a Lightfest. The event will begin November 17th and end December 31st. It will be closed December 25th, Christmas Day. The Lightfest sponsored by Wayne County Parks will turn Hines Drive into the longest holiday light display. The display will feature an enchanted world of colorful rainbows, candy canes and snowflakes. The event will open each night at 7:00 pm and close at 10:00 pm. It will begin at Hines Drive and Merriman Road in Westland and go one way in toward the direction of the concession areas onto Warren Avenue near Telegraph in Dearborn Height. There will be a food concession and photo with Santa from November 23rd to December 23rd. The cost is $5.00 per car.
