Canon PowerShot SX30 is a Digital Camera

The Canon PowerShot SX30 IS digital camera is a compact camera with a 2.7″ Vari-angle LCD display. This TFT color LCD can be tilted and turned so that it can be viewed from multiple viewing angles. It uses a Pure Color System that is high resolution and includes a Night Display designed for viewing the screen in low light. The camera has a 35x wide-angle optical zoom lens which is also capable of an additional 4x in digital zoom.. It has a 4.3-150mm focal length which is indicated on the lens barrel. For resolution it is capable of 14.1 megapixels. The Canon PowerShot SX30 IS digital camera has a Digic 4 image processor which reduces noise effectively, even at a high ISO speed. Speaking of that, the ISO range of this camera goes up to 1600, which means it can take quality pictures in dimly-lit situations. The camera accepts various memory card types including: SD, SDHC, SDXC, MultiMediaCard, MMC Plus Card, and an HC MMC Plus Card. The difference between these cards is going to be their write speed. The faster the write speed the quicker it can save the pictures you take, the quicker you can snap your next photo. Once connected, you can display pictures individually or fit up to 130 images on screen simultaneously.

You can record video using the Canon PowerShot SX30 IS digital camera in 720p resolution with HD Video Stereo sound. Depending on the resolution that you wish to record in, you can record for varying amounts of time in a single clip. If you record in 720p you can record up to 20 minutes and 43 seconds in a single clip. If you reduce the quality to 480p you can capture 43 minutes and 43 seconds in a single clip. If you go further down to 240p you can capture 1 hour and 58 minutes in a single clip. All of these will take up roughly 4GB of space. Dynamic IS is an image stabilization feature that turns on when you record video. Motion Detection Technology is used when there is a lot of motion in your photo or video. It finds the subject in all the motion and keeps it in focus as your recording or waiting to snap a photo.

Intelligent Contrast Correction automatically adjusts the contrast of the photo after it is taken to optimize picture quality. The Optical Image Stabilizer works the same as Dynamic IS but is for photography. It detects and corrects camera shaking as pictures are taken. Smart AUTO is a feature you can turn on that uses 28 different shooting situations and selects the 1 which will result in the best picture. Some of the pre-defined situations include landscape, portrait, sports, snow, and fireworks. The Canon PowerShot SX30 IS digital camera has a Voice Coil Monitor which means it works has high-speed, quiet, energy-efficient lens movement with precise control. You also have the option to control different aspects of the picture quality. if you want to select a shutter speed but let the camera determine the appropriate aperture then use Tv Shutter. If you want it the other way (choose aperture but let the camera determine shutter speed) then use Av Aperture. P Program gives you advanced exposure compensation. If you want to control it all simply switch into manual mode.

There is a self-timer that lets you time the capture of a photo based on a smile, wink, or face detection capability. You can wait for a specific person to smile for the camera to snap a photo, for a person to wink, or for a specific face to enter the shot. iSAPS technology uses a database of thousands of photos to improve photo speed and accuracy. Lastly, the Canon PowerShot SX30 comes with a lithium-ion rechargeable battery, a neck strap, lens cap, case for hat shoe cap, AV cable, USB cable, and Digital Camera Solution CD-ROM.
