Collaborative fiction authors Curt Weeden and Richard Marek weave a zany tale of murder, mystery, and truly unexpected heroes in their new release with Oceanview Publishing. A refreshingly playful read, “Book of Nathan” is anything but serious and entertaining through and through.

“Book of Nathan” follows protagonist Rick Bullock, a New York ad exec turned non-profit men’s shelter director, on his personal quest to prove a gentle and seriously misunderstood shelter resident’s innocence. In his attempt to only do the right thing by a man with no other worldly allies, Rick finds himself sucked into the very center of the Prolife/Prochoice world – and deep pocketed extremists on both sides will stop at nothing to get an edge on the fight. As he chases clues from New Jersey to Florida, the action follows dangerously close behind. Only wanting to save a guiltless man’s life, Rick realizes the only way to accomplish his insurmountable goal is to play the deadly game set before him – where the players are unknown, the stakes are high, and the only key lies within an ancient scroll possibly left out of the final version of the Bible. With a colorful array of misfits as accomplices, his job will be far from easy.

Authors Weeden and Marek do an impeccable job of juggling several important moving parts without confusing the reader. Further, each of these parts comes together completely and without a single hitch, bringing the story full circle upon its conclusion. “Book of Nathan” is a fun, easy-going story which slowly builds to an explosive and surprising ending. Surprisingly, the authors leave their novel open-ended, suspending a question in the air for their readers to ruminate on or perhaps allowing room for a sequel. Either way, it takes nothing away from the plot and readers will soon be craving more from the duo and from Rick Bullock.

“Book of Nathan” combines a controversial subject with a spin on the classic whodunit plot and a cast of likable characters which runs the amusing spectrum from ‘hero’ to ‘comic relief’. The perfect book for those looking for a fun summer read!
