Bible Verses that Inspire and Warm the Heart

There are many Bible Scriptures that warm the heart and give us the assurances of safety and provide us with a sense of comfort. In fact there are thousands. These are just a few of my favorite Bible Scriptures and I read them often when I am feeling sad, directionless, or even when I just need to maintain my joy. All of these verses can be found in the Psalms. They will provide inspiration daily.

Psalm 63:7-8 (NIV)

Because you are my help, I sing in the shadow of your wings. My soul clings to you; your right hand upholds me.

I like these two verses because it is good to know that God is our help at all times. When we begin to experience the comfort of being in God’s presence, we can sing “in the shadow” of His wings. God is a present help. Our sense of need, our insecurities and weaknesses can be driving forces that propel us into the arms of a loving God who allows us to hover under His wings. Our “soul clings” to God in attachment and we begin to understand that only in His presence can we find peace and discover all that we were meant to become.

Psalm 139:14 (NIV)

I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.

There are times when praising God brings so much clarity to our thinking that we become illuminated with God’s greatness and we begin to see ourselves in all of the beauty that we are. In these moments, we realize that we are “wonderfully made.” We become assured of this fact and we are able to overlook our flaws and shortcomings and see the wonder of ourselves.

Psalm 91:11 (NIV)

For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways.

This scripture gives me comfort as I realize that God will “command” his angels to guard and protect us as we live out our daily lives. When we feel afraid and loss, we can know that God’s angels are with us and that God is guiding our steps. This brings me comfort when I realize that even in the midst of difficult situations, God and His angels are guarding and protecting me.

Psalm 90:17 (NIV)

May the favor of the Lord our God rest upon us: establish the work of our hands for us- yes, establish the work of our hands.

There have been times when I was working and needed to figure out what to do next, in terms of planning and scoping my work. I am not the most organized person, but I have found that when I pray, thoughts about my work and how I should proceed come very quickly. There have been times when I needed to pick up additional work and projects and I have found that God remains faithful in helping me locate the work.

While there are so many Bible Scriptures that bring us comfort, these surely will. If you need more peace in your life, Scriptures from the Bible will give us that sense of peace when we meditate on them daily. All of these Scriptures were taken from the New International Version, but you can find a version of the Bible that fits your reading preferences.
