You can add a little extra sprinkle to your Christmas tree just by hanging beveled mirrors ornaments onto your tree branches. Not only do these mirrors capture the sparkle of Christmas tree lights, but they also reflect light brightening up your room a little more.
Some ideas for these cute decorations might be writing a phrase or two from your favorite Christmas carol or paint simple images like wreaths, snowflakes or a snowman. You can even add a little metal leafing to the beveled edges and paint over them with adhesive, or you can make things simple and place a vinyl Christmas sticker in the middle of each ornament. Or you can hang an ornament from the rearview mirror in your car or place one in a sunny window to add a little Christmas sparkle. To start these wonderful Christmas tree ornaments, you should carefully wash the mirrors with a vinegar and water solution and rinse them with water. Let them thoroughly dry before designing them. Try your best not to leave any sort of fingerprint on the mirror fronts.
Painting the Mirrors
I like to sit down and draw some designs I want to paint on each ornament. And sometimes I even paint several examples on a hand held mirror before painting on the ornament. You can practice as many times as you need since the paint is easy to remove simply by washing with soap and water before the paint has time to dry. Now, you paint desired deigns on the mirrors.
Felt Backing
Trace around the mirrors onto felt and cutout the beveled mirror felt shapes. Now you cut a 10 inch length of cording and sandwich the ends of the cording between the mirror and the felt to make a hanging loop. Glue felt to back of the mirror and let it dry.
