Choosing the right hair color is very important because you need to make sure that your hair color is suitable for your skin tone. The right hair color should complement your complexion and enhance your overall appearance. You shouldn’t choose a hair color simply because you like how it looks on someone else because their skin tone may be suitable for that color and yours may not. When choosing a hair color that matches you need to know a few things before subjecting your tresses to that hair dye or bleaching process. Determine Your Skin Tone
There are a wide range of colors when it comes the complexion of a persons’ skin such as dark, olive, fair and light but your skin tone falls into one of two categories; warm or cool. Your skin tone is described as either warm or cool in terms of its color. For instance if you have a yellow, red or peach undertone your skin tone is warm and is you have a blue, pink or violet undertone your skin tone is pink. You can determine your skin tone by simply looking at the color of your veins in underside of your wrist. If your veins appear to be green in color then you have warm skin tone if your veins look blue then you have a cool skin tone.

Select Hair Color
Hair colors such as browns, dark browns, cinnamon brown, black, ginger, orange based reds, golden, golden blondes, light honey blondes and medium strawberry are all suitable for a warm skin tone. You should avoid using ash based hair colors which can cause your complexion to look washed out and pale. Hair colors that are suitable for cool skin tones include blondes, light blondes, medium blondes, wine, flat browns, red, burgundy reds, flat browns, cool browns, dark browns and blue blacks and mahogany. When choosing a color while trying to maintain a look natural ensure that the hair color you choose is just a few shades lighter or darker than your natural hair color. When adding highlights and low lights to your hair you should also choose hair colors that are suitable for your skin tone.
