5 Video Games for the Holidays

The holidays are fast approaching and for my family that means buying new video games. The holidays also give us a chance to catch up on some great titles. I have compiled a listing of 5 video game titles. They are geared to specific age groups and gaming preferences. These are just a few ideas for anyone video game shopping this holiday season. I also provide links to online retailers where you can purchase the games.

Game 1 – “Call of Duty – Modern Warfare 3″

This video game is a first person shooting game. It is based in a post-World War 3 environment. It can be pretty graphic. It is not for the young or squeamish. But it is addicting, as you race to promote your character. You can play through campaign mode or online against other players.

Rated: Mature 17+

The game is recommended for everyone 17 and older.

Game 2 – “Once Upon a Monster”

This video game is a storybook adventure, through an imaginary world. You join classic Sesame Street monsters like Elmo and Cookie Monster. It is kid friendly.

That means every age group is recommended in the audience.

Platform: XBOX 360 and it requires a Kinect sensor.

Game 3 – “WWE ’12”

This game is on pre-order until November 22. It has not been released. It is based on the World Wrestling Entertainment stars. You get to experience wrestling in the ring of a feature entertainment event.

Rated: Teen

The recommendation is that younger children should not be in the room.

Game 4 – “The Elder Scrolls V – Skyrim”

This game is a fantasy based game. It allows for the player to interact in an open world environment. Your character is defined by the actions you choose, throughout the game. That means if you make bad or evil choices, your character will reflect them. But the same goes, if you choose good or pure choices.

Rated: Mature 17+

The game is recommended for everyone 17 and older.

Game 5 – “The Legend of Zelda – Skyward Sword”

This is also a fantasy based game. The player controls the sword during game play. There are problems to solve, during the interactions within the world. The player also has an expansive map to explore, during their adventures.

Rated: E 10+

This means it is recommended everyone older than 10 years of age, play the game.

Platform: Wii and it requires the Kinect sensor.
