Wyandotte Winery: A Suburban Gem

Upon arriving at Wyandotte Winery, you are greeted by a lovely brick home situated on a quaint lot in the suburb of Gahanna, Ohio. The winery is located off to the left part of the home. Once you enter the green front door, you are greeted warmly be a staff member and can feel the upbeat ambiance that surrounds the tasting rooms. There is a gift area as well as a counter which houses the wines behind it. There are high top tables at which you may sit and try out the unique wines made right on site. In the next room, are tables suitable for having a light lunch or snack with the wine of your choice. You may also opt to try a few different wines by ordering a wine tasting of either 6 or all 11 varieties. The winery also serves wine cakes by the slice or whole.

I chose to try the tasting including 6 different wines. The ones I found to be most notable were the Apple Hill and the White Roses. The Apple Hill had a sweet, yet satisfying taste, with a hint of cinnamon. I enjoyed the aroma and appearance of the wine as well. The White Roses is a Niagara wine that was fruity and pleasant. The kind of wine you can kick off your shoes and enjoy on your front porch. I had just eaten before I arrived at the winery, so I didn’t try the Antipasto Plate that includes cheese, feta, meat, olives and bread or the Hummus Plate accompanied by pita chips, but I sure would love to upon return! I enjoyed my visit to Wyandotte Winery and would love to go again to check out one of their tours or one of their activity nights such as the “Women Who Wine” which meets monthly to explore the wines with appetizers and entertainment. Travel to Gahanna and check out this hidden gem for yourself.
