Why Would You Want to Be President of the United States

The President of the United States of America, the hardest, while best job in the world. You have to be in the right place at the right time in history, just to get the job to begin with, so I guess you would be the luckiest person at that particular point in time also. One event, an act of nature, one crazy person, one missed opportunity and the world turns on you. Almost half of the citizens of your own country, no matter how good or bad things are going, will dislike you and what you stand for at any given time. Half way around the world, some lunatic can do something so outrageous and the world, not just our country, will blame you for not doing something in advance to prevent it. Then just as quick, others will ask why it took you so long to do anything about it, while even more are questioning whether you had any business doing anything at all. You can not win.
You cannot even go for a head clearing walk without a detail of armed guards protecting you from those who would do you harm, just because of the job. Why would anyone in their right mind even want to be president? Why put yourself, your family, your friends through it? The stress factor alone, is substantial. Looking at a picture of a president on his election day, and comparing it to one taken four short years later. You would think those pictures were taken 15 years apart. The aging is unbelievable. It is a wonder, presidents don’t have major health issues just do to the stress level. Maybe that is a good thing for them, everyone would just say they were to weak and to frail for the job.
These men and women who run for the office, are special people, like them or hate them, they are special. They have a desire to be involved, to help others, to leave the world in a better way than they found it. You don’t have to like them all, you don’t have to like any of them, but we need them. Too many of us are willing to sit on the sidelines and do nothing. Absolutely nothing to make things better, but when things are bad, those same people will point fingers and blame others, and demand answers. Around the world and throughout time, people have died to have the right to say what they think about the times they live in. Voting around the world is cherished by the masses. But here, in the land of the American Dream, so many of us sit on the sidelines and do not exercise our right to vote. A mere 58% of people voting age, voted in the last presidential election. That means 4 out of 10 people did not bother.
There are no legitimate reasons not to vote. You can vote early, you can vote by mail, you can vote, you should vote. If you can’t be bothered to vote, how can you expect to have anyones ear when you complain. How can anyone want someone else to have complete unquestioned authority over your future?
By not voting, that is what you are saying. Your saying tax me how much you want, make me do what you want, take away anything you want, as long as I can complain, I AM GOOD WITH THAT. People take more interest in the sack handed out the drive through window, than they do with the future of our country. Maybe we take things for granded. Everywhere you look, people are upset wth the government, maybe we are all blaming the wrong thing for our troubles. Possibly the problem is with the voter, not voting is a diservice to yourself, your friends, your nation.
