On Monday night, the remaining four couples on “Dancing with the Stars” were out to prove that they belonged in the finals. Ricki & Derek topped the leader board after three dances. There was a shake up on the board, as Rob & Cheryl took second place and frontrunners J.R. & Karina landing in third place. Hope & Maks, despite a valiant effort, landed at the bottom of the charts. Tensions ran high as each couple waited to see who would end up one week shy of the finals.
The results show started with a recap of Monday night. Len wanted to see an encore performance of Rob & Cheryl’s samba because was Rob’s breakthrough dance and changed the leader board. It wasn’t the best samba of the night, but it did show that Rob had finally found his rhythm on the ballroom floor. Right after the dance, Rob & Cheryl found out that they were the first couple to make it to the finals.
Cobra Starship featuring Sabi performed their hit song “You Make Me Feel.” Professional dancers performed to the song. The male dancers were dressed somewhat like Justin Beiber.
Next up, Hope & Maks stood before the audience to learn if they were in jeopardy or was the second couple in the final. They would have to wait until the end of the show to find out if they pulled off the upset and made it into the finals.
Carson Kressley returned to “Dancing with the Stars” to tell the secrets of the wardrobe department. His behind-the-scenes look at the department showed just how hard they work, sometimes working up to the time the couples hit the stage.
Derek & Anna performed to Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance,” a danced picked by the audience. It’s nice to see the professional get on the floor. Although the show is about people who may not know how to dance learning, it’s good to see how dances are supposed to be done.
Kenny Wormald, the star of the “Footloose” remake, told his story about growing up as a male dancer. The AT&T Spotlight Performance centered on four young male dancers and overcoming bullying, often being told dancing is not a many sport. They did a performance choreographed by Lacey Schwimmer. The boys danced with professional female dancers.
The Muppets came to “Dancing with the Stars,” promoting their movie to be released on November 23. Personally, I still love the Muppets. I grew up watching them, and it still makes me feel like a kid inside. The audience apparently felt the same way. Even the two old men from the balcony showed up.
Ricki & Derek and J.R. & Karina stood before the judges. J.R. actually hurt his ankle again during Monday’s dances. J.R. and Karina found out that they were in jeopardy, and Ricki & Derek were the second couple to make it into the finals.
Hope & Maks and J.R. & Karina had to wait until the end of the show to find out who filled the last spot in the finals. Hope & Maks were eliminated one week shy of the finals. So, the finals are set – Rob & Cheryl, Ricki & Derek and J.R. & Karina.
I am not surprised that Ricki & Derek and J.R. & Karina made it to the finals. I am surprised, though, that Rob & Cheryl rounded out the top three. I thought it would definitely be Chynna Phillips or even David Arquette. Rob represents what the show is supposed to be about, a real non-dancer becoming confident. Next week, we’ll see who brings home the Season 13 mirror ball trophy.
