2011 RANKINGS
1. Adrian Peterson – Min = Oak —– In terms of reliability, Peterson deserves the #1 RB ranking this week because he is essentially a guarantee to rack up his 75-100 rushing yards and 1 touchdown in this game. Add in the fact that the Oakland Raiders defense allows an average of 132 rushing yards per game this season, and Peterson could easily be pushing the 100-150 rushing yard mark this week.
2. Matt Forte – Chi = SD —– The Bears offense has been solid in recent weeks, while the San Diego Chargers defense has been one of the worst in recent weeks. It seems reasonable to expect Forte to rack up numbers in the 100-150 total yard range, to go along with a touchdown or two in this game.
3. Fred Jackson – Buf = @Mia —– Jackson and the Bills offense had a down game last week as they tried to play catchup against the surging Dallas Cowboys offense, however Jackson still was able to rack up 114 rushing yards on just 13 carries. A matchup against a much weaker Miami defense this week should easily have Jackson over the 100 total yard mark in this game, and a touchdown is definitely within reach as well.
4. Michael Turner – Atl = Ten —– A nice matchup for Turner to be his usual self this week to the tune of 75-100 rushing yards and 1 touchdown, with more always possible as well.
5. LeSean McCoy – Phi = @NYG —– A tough divisional matchup this week for the struggling Eagles who now have to deal with an injured Michael Vick situation. I would expect McCoy to be extremely involved in this game, with 30 touches definitely possible. 100-150 total yards is within reach, and a touchdown could be in store also.
6. DeMarco Murray – Dal = @Was —– This rookie has been the real deal since taking over as the starter for the injured Felix Jones, and as of right now…..even if Felix Jones comes back healthy and plays this week, Murray should still get 20 plus carries with the potential for another 100 rushing yards and 1 touchdown in this game.
7. Steven Jackson – StL = Sea —– Jackson has been excellent in recent weeks, and a matchup against a struggling Seattle Seahawks defense this week will likely not slow down Jackson much in this game. 100 total yards seems like a guaranteed bet, and a touchdown is easily within reach as well.
8. Ray Rice – Bal = Cin —– The Bengals defense has been solid against the run so far this season, and Ray Rice has played a disappearing act in the Ravens pass heavy offense in recent weeks. Still even at that, Rice offers tons of potential if he gets the touches.
9. Maurice Jones-Drew – Jac = @Cle —– Love the matchup, and Jones-Drew has looked like his old self in recent weeks. Another output of 100-150 total yards is definitely within reach, and a touchdown is very possible as well.
10. Marshawn Lynch – Sea = @StL —– Excellent matchup for Marshawn this week, as he could easily top the 100 rushing yard plateau, with the potential for 100-150 rushing yards and 1-2 touchdowns within reach if all goes well for the Seahawks offense in this game. In fact it would not surprise me if Lynch racked up stats that made him a top 5 scoring fantasy football RB this week.
11. Chris Johnson – Ten = @Atl —– Finally showing signs of life, Johnson may just be able to salvage his season for fantasy football owners after all. Another 100 rushing yards is very possible in this game.
12. Michael Bush – Oak = @Min —– Bush has been a beast as a starting RB, and with the Raiders having no real reason to rush back Darren McFadden right now, I fully expect Bush to get another 20 carries this week. 100 rushing yards and 1 touchdown is definitely possible.
13. Frank Gore – SF = Ari —– injury ? —– If Gore was fully healthy for this game, he would easily be considered a top option to rack up the highest scoring fantasy football RB stat line this week. However since Gore is not fully healthy, his carries will likely be limited in this game while rookie Kendall Hunter racks up the carries.
14. BenJarvus Green-Ellis – NE = KC —– Excellent matchup for the Patriots offense to put up a lot of points in this game. Lets just hope Tom Brady does not throw for all of them. Green-Ellis boasts 100 rushing yard and 1 touchdown potential this week.
15. Shonn Greene – NYJ = @Den —– Solid matchup for Greene and the Jets offense this week, and with LaDainian Tomlinson injured, it makes sense that that the Jets pound the ball with Greene in this game. Anything in the range of 75-100 rushing yards and 1 touchdown is very likely.
16. Ryan Mathews – SD = @Chi —– injury ? —– Not a big fan of this matchup for the Chargers running game……and that includes both Mathews and Mike Tolbert’s fantasy value this week.
17. Reggie Bush – Mia = Buf —– Revitalized and proving the doubters wrong, Bush has a nice matchup this week to once against find the endzone while racking up 100 total yards.
18. Brandon Jacobs – NYG = Phi —– With it very unlikely that Ahmad Bradshaw returns for this game, Jacobs should see 15-20 carries while likely racking up 50-100 rushing yards. 1 touchdown is always possible as well.
19. Mike Tolbert – SD = @Chi
20. James Starks – GB = TB
21. LeGarrette Blount – TB = @GB
22. Darren McFadden – Oak = @Min —– injury ? —– Right now it looks like McFadden will not play this week, and if he does I would not expect much from him with the way Michael Bush has been running the ball. There really is no reason for the Raiders to bring back McFadden too early and risk any type of re-injury.
23. Daniel Thomas – Mia = Buf —– 58% — While Reggie Bush has been getting a lot of hype in the Dolphins offensive resurgence, a much healthier Daniel Thomas could post the best rushing stats in Miami this week. The Buffalo Bills defense is nothing special, and if Thomas is nearly 100% for this game he could be looking at numbers anywhere in the range of 50-100 rushing yards and 1 touchdown.
24. Jackie Battle – KC = @NE —– 63% — The perennial RB pickup from week to week, Battle is still available in nearly 40% of 10 team leagues. A matchup against a so-so Patriots defense should have Battle racking up 50-80 yards with the potential for more always possible. All in all, Battle is definitely worth a flex start this week in most fantasy football lineups.
25. Beanie Wells – Ari = @SF
26. Cedric Benson – Cin = @Bal
27. Maurice Morris – Det = Car
28. Chris Ogbonnaya – Cle = Jac —– 25% — After tallying 90 rushing yards on just 19 carries (109 total yards) in last weeks game, Ogbonnaya may have gotten the monkey off his back as the Cleveland Browns starting RB for the foreseable future. With Montario Hardesty likely out again this week, and the Browns having no real reason to push Peyton Hillis into the lineup, it seems reasonable to believe that Ogbonnaya will once again be the feature back in the Browns offense this week.
29. Kendall Hunter – SF = Ari —– 19% — As usual, the Frank Gore injury bug is once again a factor, and if Gore is limited or does not play in this game, Hunter becomes an instant 100 rushing yard and 1 touchdown threat this week. If anything, Hunter is a MUST ADD for all Frank Gore owners right now.
30. Jonathan Stewart – Car = @Det
31. Ahmad Bradshaw – NYG = Phi —– injury ?
32. Willis McGahee – Den = NYJ —– injury ?
33. Roy Helu – Was = Dal
34. Lance Ball – Den = NYJ —– 6% — If Willis McGahee and Knowshon Moreno are out for this game, Ball should pick up the starting gig for the Broncos this week. And after racking up 30 rushing attempts for 96 yards in last weeks game, there is plenty of reason to believe that the Broncos are confident in pounding the ball on the ground with Lance Ball if need be.
35. Marion Barber – Chi = SD —– 19% — Always getting a handful of carries, Barber is definitely a touchdown threat this week against a struggling San Diego Chargers defense. Something in the range of 40 rushing yards and 1 touchdown seems like a good bet.
36. Ryan Torain – Was = Dal
37. DeAngelo Williams – Car = @Det
38. Knowshon Moreno – Den = NYJ —– injury ? torn ACL out for season
39. Peyton Hillis – Cle = Jac —– injury ? – OUT WILL NOT PLAY
40. LaDainian Tomlinson – NYJ = @Den —– injury ? – OUT WILL NOT PLAY
41. Ryan Grant – GB = TB
42. Kevin Smith – Det = Car —– 2% — After signing a contract on Monday, Smith promptly entered the Lions offensive lineup and tallied 4 rushing attempts for 19 yards as well as 2 receptions for 10 yards. With Jahvid Best no where near returning to the lineup, Smith has shown he is already the Lions #2 RB option after Maurice Morris.
43. Javon Ringer – Ten = @Atl
44. Joe McKnight – NYJ = @Den —– 4% — Depending on the extent of LaDainian Tomlinson’s knee injury, McKnight could easily step into the backup RB roll behind Shonn Greene this week. As a homerun threat, there is plenty of potential for McKnight if he can rack up some touches in this game.
45. Stevan Ridley – NE = KC
46. Dexter McCluster – KC = @NE
47. CJ Spiller – Buf = @Mia
48. Kevin Faulk – NE = KC
49. Danny Woodhead – NE = KC
