UC Davis Police Mace Seated Students Over Occupy Dispute

The infamous pepper spraying and brutal tactics continue to be the leading force of police everywhere in the US against Occupy activists.
The latest incident, ( for video: http://youtu.be/k94TTTCuB5U ) took place at the UC Davis campus.
The video was taken by a student bystander and emailed to Huffington Post. In the email the student film maker wrote “UC Davis students were peacefully protesting on the quad”

According to reports by CBS Sacramento TV, UC Davis students were seated across a quad on campus and had every right to be there. 35 UC Davis cops dressed in full riot gear, armed with rubber bullets showed up and asked them to remove the tent. When the students refused, trigger happy cops, caught on video, shaking pepper spray canisters aimed into the student faces and began spraying.

The film maker told HuffPost, “I couldn’t believe it, cops macing into students face at point blank range. I didn’t think such a thing would ever happen on campus over a tent being on campus. It’s embarrassing on the part of the police to take such action.”

Bystanders begged the cops to stop from spraying on those students, but to no avail. The crowd then broke out in a chant to the police “Shame On You” and the chant grew louder and louder.

Crowds later shouted “who do you protect” and “don’t shoot your children”. Chants continued throughout the episode, the last being “You use weapons, we use our voice.”

UC Davis Police Chief, Annette Spicuzza defended her officers’ actions on KCRA by saying there were 200 students vs 35 cops and their safety was at stake.
It turns out, there were just under 50 Occupy protestors on the quad, with 200 on lookers (campus students who had no part in the Occupy protest)

UC Davis Chancellor, Linda Katehi in a statement said “We deeply regret that our protestors today chose not to work with our campus staff and police to remove the encampment as requested.”
To this, Nathan Brown an assistant English professor at the university released an open letter to the Chanellor calling for her resignation.
He wrote: “You are responsible for it because that is what happens when the UC Chancellor orders police onto our campus to disperse peaceful protestors through use of force: students get hurt.”

One wonders, why do we send our troops to the middle east (Iran, Libya, Afghanistan, Iraq and the list goes on and on) to protect citizens of other nations from their government brutality, when the same thing is happening here in the US to our people by Congress and law enforcement?

What wool does Congress continue to try and pull over our eyes, for real?
Congress continues to use ‘Hitler tactics’ into making us think like zombies as being the greatest nation in the world. When in fact, they [Cogress] are the biggest frauds in history.

Keep up the good work Occupy Wall Street activists, because for now, our beloved Congress and their side kicks continue to occupy Wall Street!
