Treating Bronchitis with Aroma Therapy

Bronchitis is the irritation and inflammation of the lining of the bronchial tubes which are the pathways that carry air in and out of the lungs. Bronchitis makes breathing hard to do and it usually develops after a severe cold or upper respiratory infection. Bronchitis can be acute or chronic.

Acute bronchitis often improves in a few days were as chronic bronchitis is more serious and is a constant irritation and inflammation in the bronchial tubes that is very often caused by smoking. If you develop acute bronchitis repeatedly you should see a doctor because it could actually be chronic bronchitis which does require medical attention.

Some symptoms of bronchitis are coughing, fatigue, chills, slight fever, heavy feeling in the chest and mucus or phlegm which can be clear, yellowish-gray or even green in color. Acute bronchitis is accompanied by a cough that may last for a few weeks but chronic bronchitis is accompanied by a cough that last at least three months.

Essential oils can be used to treat bronchitis and relieve the irritation and inflammation caused by it. Below you will find some formulas that you can use to bring relief from that annoying cough and discomfort caused by bronchitis. These work best with for acute bronchitis but they can also bring relief for chronic bronchitis as well.

Choose one of the following formulas and follow both steps. Step 1: Mix these essential oils in with the water very well then lean over the bowl and inhale the mixture for about 10 seconds then wait about 20 seconds and repeat. Do this for about 5 minutes then follow step 2. Step 2: Mix these oils together well and massage into the chest and back 3 times a day, especially over the lung area.

Note: These are formulas that I have created and worked with over the years. Be sure to wear gloves when working with essential oils in their pure state and they should always be diluted with a carrier oil. Test a small path of skin with a tiny bit of the formula to make sure that you do not experience an allergic reaction before you use it on a large area of skin. No liability can be taken by me!
