Three Eastern Idaho Bed and Breakfast Lodgings for a Valentine’s Day Retreat

Eastern Idaho has great scenery, great people, and great places to get away to. These are my favorite three Bed and Breakfasts in Eastern Idaho:

The Blacksmith Inn

I had the unique opportunity of painting one of the murals in the Blacksmith Inn. I know the people who run this bed and breakfast and they make great pancakes. The rooms are well kept and clean. The hot tub is nice and the surroundings are great. What is really nice about this place is that it is close to civilization yet it is also near some great places to fish. From here you can either go East to Jackson, Wyoming or North to Yellowstone Park. It is located just South West of Rigby, Idaho so if as a couple you need to have a night away from the kids and yet stay close enough to return home if need be, then this is a great place to stay for folks from the area. If you are from outside the area then this is not far from the city of Idaho Falls.

Stegelmeier Farmhouse Inn
One winter my sons and I went and stayed a night at the Stegelmier Farmhouse and we really enjoyed our stay. The place is wonderful. Just a short drive East of Ashton, Idaho not far from the Aspen golf course in the summer and close to the best fishing ever up past Warm Springs. Since I stayed there in the winter my sons enjoyed some snowmobiling and then we went over to Harriman Park and cross country skied. What is unique about this bed and breakfast is that the farmhouse still has all the original antique furniture from the turn of the century. I loved the old piano and I really loved the old antique toys in the upstairs. They serve a great pancake breakfast as well. My sons stayed in the room with two twin beds and I had the rose room to myself. I can’t wait to go back.

Old Irwin Lodge Bed and Breakfast
Not far up the road past Swan Valley is a little place called Irwin and there on the North side of the road you will see the Old Irwin Lodge. My husband and I stopped there one year and took a tour of the place. The people were really friendly and we were planning on staying there together someday. The someday never came, but still the place was enticing. Had circumstances permitted it, and had my husband lived longer, I believe that we would have enjoyed a night here. We would have driven East past Ririe and we would have stopped for Square Ice Cream at the gas station in Swan Valley and then we would have checked into the Old Irwin Lodge for a night together. In the morning we would have ate a hearty breakfast and perhaps mid morning we would have gone fishing on the South Fork. Of course that would have been if it was summer. If we had gone on Valentines day, which is in the winter in Idaho, we would have just enjoyed the warm comforts of the Lodge.
