The Dragon and the Wizard

There is a land far, far away,

Where many types of mystical creatures like to play.

They fly and jump from tree to tree,

They love the idea of being free.

There are fairies and pixies,

Tree people and dwarves.

There are ogres, and goblins,

And magic galore!

There are many more creatures that live here and play,

New ones emerge from hiding every day!

There is also a huge dragon that lives in a cave.

They don’t mind him being there,

He knows to behave.

Things are very interesting,

Here in this land.

And they all work together,

Almost hand in hand.

Sometimes they argue,

And sometimes they fight.

But overall not being together

Gives them such a fright!

When bad things happen,

They always stay side by side.

There will never be a time,

When they run away and hide.

They have had big issues,

That they have come across.

Like the one we will speak of soon,

When a scary wizard wanted to be their boss.

He came and he tried to tear them apart,

He wrecked and he ravaged,

And broke their poor hearts.

He used his magic to break the trees in half,

They tried to be strong together,

But all the wizard did was laugh.

All of the creatures decided to come up with a plan,

They needed this wizard out of here,

Besides, he was just an old man!

They decided to steal his wand and his hat,

To ransack his castle,

And steal his magic talking vampire bat.

They formed a group,

They packed some bread and some soup.

They decided to make the long journey to his home,

To discuss with him that this land was free for them to roam.

They didn’t need him to boss them around,

If he thought he could do so,

They would bury him in the ground.

The wizard did not expect them to come knocking on his door.

When he saw who it was,

He thought “Oh these visitors will be such a bore!”

One brave little gnome walked right up to the wizard,

He yelled, and shook his fists at him,

But the old man turned him into a lizard!

The other creatures started all talking at once,

But the wizard decided he was hungry,

He was going to make some lunch.

He walked towards his house,

With all the creatures behind still talking.

He thought to himself,

“They won’t notice I will just keep walking.”

After the creatures had calmed down to silence,

They decided once and for all,

They needed to find some guidance.

The dragon was always tucked deep away in his lair,

They hadn’t seen him in so long,

They didn’t know if he still lived there.

They knew however he had special powers,

He could breathe the hottest fire,

And burn things to where the ashes came down in showers.

They really needed his courage and wisdom,

They promised him that if he helped them,

He could live forever peacefully in this kingdom.

He decided he would help them on one condition,

If he decided to help them,

They needed to help him fulfill his addiction.

He had this special love you see,

He loved the music of the fairies,

That flowed magically through the trees.

He loved to come out of his cave at night,

He was so in love with their music,

When he listened he knew everything would be all right.

He wanted to be closer to the music and fun,

He knew that life would be so delicious,

Sort of like a honey bun.

So the creatures and the dragon,

They made their deal with each other.

They also decided to load him onto an oversized wagon.

They covered him up with a blanket,

The dragon was feeling so good about himself,

He called out “Let’s go get this halfwit!”

They rolled the wagon right up to the castle door,

They threw stones and rammed the entrance,

All the time yelling “So do you want some more?”

The wizard came out and saw the creatures below.

He again thought to himself,

“This should be a great show!”

He decided to float right down out of the window

He then realized that he had stopped descending,

And was floating in limbo.

What he then took notice to,

Was that something was moving on the wagon.

The blanket flew off and he spotted the dragon!

You see wizards and dragons are really not good friends,

Usually they fight and fight until the end.

But this dragon was sneaky and used his magic first,

He blocked the wizard’s magic,

So he couldn’t do his worst.

He looked up at the wizard and said plain as day,

“Listen Mr. Wizard I could make you float there all day!”

“However, I have many new adventures to begin.”

“And I would like you to be on your way,

So these nice creatures of the forest can finally have a good day!”

“I have taken your magic so you can do no more harm.”

“You should probably just go find a job on a farm.”

“You will never hurt these poor creatures again,

Because if you do I will find you,

And turn you into a hen!”

The wizard was so mad and sour,

He didn’t say a word for an hour.

The dragon had brought him down to the ground,

He went to his house and packed a suitcase that was big and round.

Without a word he got onto his horse and rode far, far away,

The creatures decided to make the dragon a bed made of hay.

They built him a home made of stone and cement,

They wanted to make sure the dragon was happy,

And most important he would be completely content.

As the days passed by, they turned into weeks,

You could see a change in the dragon,

He always had a smile on his cheeks.

He listened to music all day and all night,

He was so pampered and loved by all,

He never ever had to be scared when he turned out the light.

The point of this story is to remind everyone,

That when you are mean to people,

No one has any fun.

And if you are mean to people for no reason,

There might just be someone,

Who might just knock you out of the season.

So remember this story,

When you are being mean to each other.

And remember there is still a happy land,

Where they pixies and fairies still flutter.

They live happy lives thanks to the dragon,

Who defeated the old wizard by hiding in a wagon.
