Special Five Day Online Screening Series of Horror Thriller Donner Pass

A special five-day series of event screenings of the dark thriller Donner Pass will take place on Constellation, the leading innovator of virtual online movie theater experiences. Constellation TV, Freestyle Digital Media and Arroyo Filmworks are hosting the screenings, which cost $4.99 each.

The screenings come after Freestyle’s mandate to reach every corner of the market by leveraging “FreeStyle Social Cinema.” The program uses social network platforms and capitalizes on the power and reach of web-connected video. Donner Pass is just one of several films that will have selective online theatrical screenings of Freestyle’s upcoming release date.

Constellation’s revolutionary virtual theatrical technology will feature screenings that will be hosted by directors, actors and other filmmakers. The screenings offer the audience a way to interact with the directors, actors and filmmakers, and will provide an intimate film festival.

Donner Pass tells the story of settlers in 1846 that became trapped in the snow in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. The group had to resort to cannibalism in order to survive. A group of teens on a snowboard trip 150 years later discover the Donner Party curse still haunts the mountains when members of their group turn up dead and half-eaten.

Donner Pass‘ director, Elise Robertson, and producer Mouncey Ferguson will host the first Q&A about the film on Wednesday, January 11 at 7:30PM PST. The Emmy-ward winning director director who’s known for her adaptation of Ralph Ellison’s King of the Bingo Game, is also an actor whose recent credits include Sons of Anarchy, True Blood and NCIS: LA. Along with Mouney, Elise has recently finished the script for the caper/biopic Forger, which tells the story of the famous World War II-era forger, Han Van Meegeren.

On Thursday, January 12 at 7:30PM PST, horror icon John Kassir, who is known as the voice of Crypt Keeper, will host a live Q&A of Donner Pass. The following evening at 7:30PM PST, Michael Defellipo, writer for Horrorsociety.com, will host a live Q&A about the film. The movie’s cast members, Desiree Hall and Brandon Morales, will host the screening on Saturday, January 14.

On Sunday, January 15 at 7:30PM PST, Shannon Lark, Stacy Hammon and Heidi Honeycutt of Viscera Film Festival will host a live Q&A about the film. Viscera is a non-profit organization that provides opportunities for contemporary female genre filmmakers, and raises awareness about the changing roles for women in the film industry.
