Six Reasons to Switch to Mac

Many people are switching from PC to Mac these days, either because they’re frustrated or otherwise not happy with their current PC experience, or maybe they just want to try something new, there’s plenty of reasons to switch over to using a Mac.

In this article I’ll list 6 reasons to switch – or at least consider switching – to Mac from PC.

#1. Mac OS X

This is one of the biggest reasons to switch to Mac. Instead of running Windows or Linux like most PCs do, Macs run Apple’s own operating system called ‘Mac OS X’ (Sometimes called ‘OS X’ for short).

Mac OS X is designed with user friendliness and productivity in mind. Mac OS X has a sleek GUI (Graphical User Interface) that is both easy to learn and use, and is also designed to help aide with multitasking.

Mac OS X is also designed to work only with Apple’s computers and hardware, this allows it to be tailor-made specifically for Macs to increase the speed and stability of them. Which brings me to the next reason…

#2. Stability

Macs are incredibly stable and rarely will you have a Mac crash or freeze up on you. This is because of the fact I mentioned earlier about Mac OS X being tailored to work with Apple’s hardware but also partially because, unlike Windows, there is no registry in Mac OS X.

The leading cause of crashes in a computer running Windows are corrupted registry keys and registry errors, both of which can cause crashes, freezes, and the dreaded “Blue Screen of Death”.

Luckily, Mac OS X has no such registry and so you won’t have to deal with having to repair your registry or suffer from crashes thanks to a corrupt registry entry.

#3. The Quality

Even hardcore Apple haters will admit that the quality of Apple’s products are superb, as each Apple product is designed with build quality in mind. Rarely will you ever see a Mac that has any hardware malfunctions or issues.

Take the new unibody MacBooks for example, having all the hardware completely encased in a unibody design makes the MacBook much more durable and less prone to hardware failure because of some random part of the laptop’s case that may have just come loose for one reason or another.

This level of quality is present in all Macs, and it’s pretty obvious when you use one just how durable they really are.

#4. The Software

This was actually my personal reason for getting a Mac. Sometimes, you just really like the software that comes with a Mac, whether it’s Garageband, Xcode, iPhoto, or any of the myriad of different apps for Macs.

Or perhaps there’s a certain specific program that you would like to use that either only works for Macs, or that it runs better on a Mac than it does on a PC. Chances are, there’s at least one app for Macs that you would like to try out.

#5. Fewer Viruses

Although Macs can get viruses, they are few and far between. You’ll rarely – if ever – run into a virus when using a Mac.

The reason for this is because fewer viruses are created for Macs, as most of them are made specifically to attack PCs running Windows since there are far more Windows PCs than there are Macs.

If you do happen to get a virus, or if you’re just paranoid about getting one, there’s plenty of antivirus software available for Macs as well.

#6. The Style

The thing that Macs are most known for is their style and aesthetics. When you see a Mac, you immediately know what it is, as no other computer will have the same elegant design, aluminum body, or that stylish Apple logo that Macs have.

With how sleek the new unibody MacBooks are or how elegant and simple the iMac design is, it’s no surprise to find out that aesthetics are a big reason why people buy Macs.

Conclusion

There you have it, my 6 reasons for you (Yes, you!) to switch to a Mac. While I’m not expecting you to immediately go out and buy a new Mac after reading this, hopefully these 6 reasons will at least make you consider one in the future.
