Size: Sm/Med (Lg/Ex-Lg) Instructions are given for the smallest size with the larger size in parentheses. When only one number is given it applies to all sizes.

Finished Measurements:

Height: 11″

Base Circumference: 8 (9)”

Top Circumference: 7 (8)”

Materials:

1 – 7 oz, 366 yds 4 ply worsted yarn (Sample shown is in Caron Simply Soft in Dk. Country Blue and Raspberry) Size 8 (5mm) knitting needles Size G Crochet hook (optional) Tapestry needle

Gauge: 18 sts x 22 rows = 4″/10 cm square in Stockinette st on size 8 needles or size needed to obtain gauge.

Special Stitches

Sk2p – slip 1 st; knit 2 sts together; pass slip st over 2 knitted sts

Skp – slip 1 st; knit 1 st; pass slip st over knitted st

Gloves: (Make 2)

With size 8 needles cast on 44 (48) sts and work 10 rows of k2, p2 rib; then for Sm/Med dec 3 sts evenly across last row; for lg/ex-lg inc 1 sts in center of last row

Pattern Stitches:

Row 1, 3 & 5: k3, * yo, sk2p, yo, k5; rep from *; end with k3

Row 2 & all alt rows: purl

Row 7: k2, * k2tog, yo, k1, yo, skp, k3; rep from *; end with k2

Row 9: k1, * k2tog, yo, k3, yo, skp, k1; rep from * to end

Row 11: k2tog, * yo, k5, yo sk2p; rep from * to end

Row 13: k1, * yo, skp, k3, k2tog, yo, k1; rep from * to end

Row 15: k2, * yo, skp, k1, k2tog, yo, k3; rep from*; end with k2

Row 17, 19 & 21: rep row 1

Row 22: rep row 2

Rep rows 1 through 22 one more time; then dec 5 sts evenly across last row – 36/36 (44/44) sts rem.

Next work 7 rows of k2 p2 rib; then bind off all sts in pattern leaving a 18″ long tail.
Assembly:
Fold gloves in half lengthwise with RS facing; sew side seam from base up 8″ and finish off. Then using long tail from bind off, sew down the k2, p2 rib. Next: Option I: work a row of single crochet around thumb opening, then weave in all loose ends; Option II: using tapestry needle sew around thumb opening using a blanket st, then weave in all loose ends.
