Riding Rails for Free in Orange Park, FL

Ask any avid skateboarder in Clay County, Florida, where to find a good local skate park, and the answer will be the “O.P. Park.”

Owned by the town of Orange Park and run by the ever-friendly Ms. Anjie, the Orange Park Skate Park is a free park open to all skateboarders and in-line skaters. Local skateboarders enjoy the park’s small-town feel and friendly atmosphere, and anyone visiting the skate park for the first time will notice the fun atmosphere without the competitive edge, which is present at some parks. The outdoor park features a vertical wall (approximately ten feet) and one half-pipe along with the standard banks, ramps, and rails common to most skate parks.

The skate park also offers free skateboarding lessons and is available for skateboarders’ birthday parties by calling Ms. Anjie at (904) 625-6260 to reserve space. Concession stands and covered concession areas provide skateboarders a place to take a break from long hours of skating, and a Pro-Shop offers equipment and apparel for sale.

The park is open at 2:00 p.m. to sundown every weekday, from 10:00 a.m. to sundown on Saturdays, and noon to sundown on Sundays, weather permitting. Skaters must wear a helmet at all times, and although there is no cost to skate, helmet rentals are $2.00 for those who do not bring their own. All skaters must have a completed notarized liability waiver on file, and a notary is usually available at the park. The park is located at 1066 Fromhart St. in Orange Park, Florida, 32073. Liability Waivers can be downloaded from the park’s website at www.skateboardpark.com/skateboardpark/viewpark.asp?ID=5992.

For a fun, friendly, and, best of all, FREE skateboarding experience, locals and visitors alike to the Clay County area of Florida know to visit the Orange Park Skate Park.
