The TekNmotion Intruder is a gaming headset but not exclusively for PC use, gaming can be done on other devices and with today’s wide variety of smart phones, tablets and handheld consoles the headset includes plenty of features for them. The Intruder includes the headset on a 42 inch cable, an 8 foot cable with inline controller, two detachable microphones, chat adapter, smart phone adapter, carry pouch and instruction manual.

The Intruder headset starts with the headset that ends in a 3.5mm connection that combines the stereo input and the microphone output. The headset is hinged and swivels to allow better storage while carrying the Intruder in the included carry pouch.

The headband adjusts for comfort and each ear piece is cushioned with a faux leather foam filled ear cushions that fit surprisingly well given their odd shape. While most headsets have a round or oval shape the Intruder has an almost triangular shape that should fit around your ears well.

The top band is also covered with faux leather and this top band adjusts to give the most comfort while wearing for different sized heads. The bottom of the left ear piece has the connection for the microphone with your choice of a longer one and a short one but they are not especially for any type of use.

Both the short and regular microphone works well and I really could not detect any difference other than a slight lower volume from the shorter microphone while testing just because it’s not right in front of your mouth. They both sounded just fine and in my side by side testing going from one computer to the next and listening to me talking in the microphone while listening with a different headset I could not tell much of a difference.

The longer microphone is the more conventional at home use but I kind of like the shorter one for a more get out of your way voice use. The microphones work with the inline controller as well as just the cable that is on the headset and you choose which to use according to the device your connecting to.

The headset ends in a four section 3.5mm audio tip so this works well with smart phones and tablets or devices with both the audio out and audio input on the same connection. The in-line controller cable has the input for the end of the headset and the output is split into two cables for stereo audio and the other for the microphone.

These connectors are the ones for connecting to a computer, console or a speaker output for headsets like my Logitech Z5500 has on the side of the control box. The set also includes a right angle adapter for use with Nokia, Sony Ericsson and Samsung devices as well as a chat adapter.

The chat adapter is for going from the two separate cables of the in-line controller cable to a Mac computer that has the four section tip like the end of the headset cable. They give you this adapter to allow the use of the eight foot in-line controller cable and still be able to connect to your Mac computer with a decent amount of cable.

I tried the headset out on various devices with a wide range of connection options as well as in stereo, 5.1 and 7.1 surround sound to great entertainment enjoyment. Playing around and listening to sound tracks like the Jurassic Lunch from THX is a great way to not only hear but feel the bass of the headset.

The real test of any headset is both gaming and movies, your typical entertainment where headsets are used to not bother others while enjoying yourself. Gaming is great with very good surround sound like hearing enemies trying to sneak up on you around corners but the headset really excels at movies and music.

Having real thumping bass in your ears is great with this headset and the lows, mids and highs are all fantastic in both movies and music. Listening to movies like Transformers: Dark of the Moon and music like Pink: Funhouse Tour really shows this headset off.

The Intruder headset works well with other devices like my Sansa View MP3 player and my NextBook Next5 tablet so the headset works for all kinds of devices. You can get surround sound form a stereo headset if you use a virtual surround sound device like the SIIG USB SoundWave 7.1 Device.

So far TekNmotion has really impressed me with an entry level inexpensive headset in the Yapster and now they have hit another homerun with the Intruder that also sounds fantastic. Comfortable fit, fantastic sound and other features that really make the $60 cost not an issue with this headset, the Intruder really is a great headset for the cost.

I highly recommend the TekNmotion Intruder for a great mid-priced headset that sounds fantastic and has the accessories for connection to a wide variety of devices.
