Even if you’ve never made jewelry in your life you can make stunning pearl accents for your wedding and reception. They’re so cheap and easy yet look quite expensive. Just make circles of pearls and you can use them to create wedding candle holders, place cards, and much more.
Use pliable wire to string pearls and create the specific wedding decorations you want. With a simple pair of wire snips, you’re on your way. Look for pearl beads at a craft store and you’ll see that a bunch of them will cost only three or four bucks. Use pearl beads of just one size to make all the decorations you want.
Cut a piece of wire and string the beads onto it. Wrap the wire around something circular, like a soda can, juice glass, or similar object. This can help you create the perfect circle. To close the circle, fill a bead with hot glue, then stick one end of the wire into one hole of the bead, and the other end of the wire into the opposite hole. The bracelet-type circle – or circles – can then be turned into whatever you want.
Make a small circle, and a slightly larger one, and lay one inside the other. Apply glue to the pearls and lay a piece of scrapbook paper or cardstock in the glue. Allow to dry completely. Trim away excess cardstock or paper then write a name on it. The name within a circle of pearls makes a gorgeous place marker.
Make elegant drink coasters by creating a circle of the pearls and gluing it to black velvet or even thin cork. Make small circles of pearls and use them as napkin rings.
Make one circle of pearls then create another one that’s a tad smaller. Glue the smaller one on top of the larger one. Make another, even smaller circle, and glue it on top. These make lovely candle holders. Just set a votive or tea light – in its own container – down in the circles of pearls. Or, build these a little higher and use them as vases.
String the pearls onto a piece of elastic cord and you can even make fashion accessories. Give one to the flower girl as a bracelet or anklet. Or, use them as ponytail ties for your hair.
The strings of pearls decorations are very simple to make but extremely stunning. They’re perfect for an elegant wedding, a black and white-only affair, or even a beach wedding. White pearls won’t fit in with your wedding scheme? Use gold beads, silver ones, red beads, or another color, to create just the right decorations for your fabulous day.
