One Last Farewell to the Obama’s

With the Presidential season 2012 rapidly approaching, it is time to reflect on what the current President, Obama, has failed and accomplished for his first term. President Obama a person of strong conviction and character is a man of his word. Unlike many other presidential candidates turn Presidents, he has kept his promises on a lot of things. We can debate for centuries to come whether his healthcare for millions, repeal of “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell” and the spending of trillions to help an ailing economy were wise policy decisions but what I can say is that he kept his word. Obama pushed on even though he was faced changing polling data that assured no second term if he continued to press on with his policies. Putting his politics aside, we can all give him credit for the traditional family structure that he brought into the Whitehouse. He and Michelle have raised two wonderful children all in a loving environment. In these days, where broken homes are common place, it is nice to see there are families out there that still have traditional values. It is especially important that the family that occupies the high office is a family of color that hold these characteristics.

The Obama’s have a tightly knit woven family formation that is an intangible benefit for all of America. This is especially an important positive message to minority communities that see these daily positive images instead of the constant poor images of their communities they receive from the media and entertainment venues. It is also a subtle reminder that it is now possible that they too can achieve the ranks of such high high offices and stature. Again, let me just say that I am proud that he has shown himself as a positive role model for everyone everywhere that may come from broken homes, or have non-wholesome celebrities as their role models to look up to. I am also grateful that it was President Barack Obama rather than President Jesse Jackson that held this title as the first African-American President.

I have nothing but great things to say about the First Lady as well. Her issues to fight obesity and bullying amongst children are commendable while leaving the politics to her husband and staffs. Shopping at every day retailers like J Crew and Old Navy just shows how down to earth Michelle Obama really is. She is very educated and powerful woman that brings a lot to the table. She has done an outstanding job in raising and keeping their children grounded while they occupy the high office. Its hard to compare the rearing of teenagers to young children so I will not begin to compare the Bush-Twins, Chelsea Clinton, and others.

Obama’s extreme policy decisions and inability to turn around the struggling economy has turned many people against him. It also may be the reason for his downfall in 2012. Obama is bold, and daring in all of his endeavors and I am glad that he tackled issues like gays in the military, restructuring the ailing auto makers, financial markets, and health care. With Gays in the Military and restructuring the auto makers, at a second glance all were good things for America. Helping financial markets and enacting healthcare, may not have been such good ideas especially when you allow companies to ignore the laws that were put in place. It is a shame that in this day in age, where we have so few great minority role models for people across the world that this one so prominent will rise and fall in matter of 4-years. What will we do? Are there any others that will take his place? Can he continue his good work outside of the high office he failed to maintain? Those are some questions that we need to ask. Barack and Michelle Obama are great US citizens but require a little bit more experience before we allow them to run the country for another 4 years. Therefore, let us welcome a new family into the Whitehouse with better experience, wholesome family structure, and the know how to turn this economy around.
