My First UFO Sighting, but Not My Last.

“Dad, can we sleep in the tent tonight? There is going to be a meteorite shower and you promised me that you would watch the next one with me the last time I asked.” So with one request, I had unknowingly altered the belief system I had been instilled with.

I remember thinking how nice of a night it was for camping out, even if dad and I were only fifty feet away from the house. I remember lying down beside dad as we listened to the big red machine win another game. “And this one belongs to the Reds” the announcer beamed, and I drifted into a deep sleep.

I woke up as dad stepped outside of the the tent, and scurried behind him, hesitant to be alone in the tent at 3:00 A.M.

“Look at that Jeff!” Dad was a as startled as I was excited. A large glowing ball of fire whizzed past as if they only fifty feet high in the sky. I remember the feeling of awe on that starry August hour, somewhere after late, but not yet dawn.

I trailed my dad as he made his way through the pitch black yard, if not for the glowing sky all light would have seemed to exist.

“Wait out here boy”, dad demanded as he disappeared through the back door. The door stopped shutting, and that is when I felt the watchers gaze looking at me. I felt the bumps rise on my skin, the hair on the back of my neck stiffen, and that is when i saw it.

My eyes started at our roof, and slowly skyward. The instant my eyes beheld what I was seeing defied logic, my parents beliefs, all of the rules that adults tell us we must believe if “you don’t want the towns people to think you is a damn fool”

The saucer was shaped like a toy top, or two bowls glued on top of each other. The saucer shaped craft was silently hovering directly over our house and it was so low that I could clearly see windows, or portals, they reminded me of the windows on a jumbo jet, and they encircled the entire craft. It was from these windows that I felt the watchers studying me. “What if they have such technology as beaming me to their ship?” I remember thinking to myself, and how stupid it was to be thinking such things at a time like this. The portal lights started to flash in basic easy to follow patterns. They began to take on different colors. The patterns of the portal lights, and their constant changing of color intensified until I heard a loud ripping sound. Was it a tear in the time space continuum? Then it was gone, period.

I was suddenly brought out of my trance like state when I heard dad coming out the back door. “You been standing here this entire time?” I nodded my head up and down, yawned, and climbed back in the tent. I zipped myself up in the sleeping bag and I don’t think I ever went back to sleep that night.
