My Favorite iPhone Apps for 2011

If you have an iPhone, then I’m sure you already have a lot of “apps” on it that you can’t live without. The list below includes five of my favorite apps that I have downloaded from the iTunes app store. Most of them are available for free and the ones that are not are definitely worth the dollar or so they cost. This list adds to the variety of uses for your iPhone. Enjoy!

Cash Vault (Free): This app gives you a fun and secure way to budget from month to month. You just plug-in the amount of cash you’re allotted every month and then every time you add an expense to the app, it shows how much more money you have to spend that month. This app is very user-friendly and is a necessity for anybody on a budget or wanting to track spending.

Sleep Cycle (99 cents): With the Sleep Cycle app you don’t have to worry about waking up groggy anymore. The app detects your movements while you sleep and determines what sleep cycle you are in. You pick a 30 minute window in which you would like to be woken up and it determines the best time to wake you up and when you are in the lightest sleep cycle possible in that thirty minute window. It also keeps track of your sleeping habits and cycles so that you can see how much sleep you are getting and what quality of sleep you are getting as well. It’s the best way to wake up and now that I’ve started using this app, I don’t know how I ever lived without it!

Netflix (Monthly Subscription): Did you know that you can watch movies and TV shows on your iPhone? You can if you download the Netflix app! There is a large selection of shows to watch including some popular series (like the STARZ series Camelot). You do have to pay a monthly fee of $8.00 to Netflix for the app to work though. It’s great to use on long car rides or to catch up on your favorite series during your lunch break.

StumbleUpon (Free): If you have ever searched the web randomly just to see what you would find, this is the app for you. You pick things that interest you and then click “Stumble.” The website brings up a webpage that could potentially be one that you’ll enjoy. This app is great if you have time to burn and a curious mind.

Scan (Free): This app does exactly what it says it does. Anytime you see a square barcode, take a picture of it with this app and you will be directed to exclusive content. I’ve seen businesses use it to show lucky consumers coupons and fun commercials. The latest example I have seen is on large Taco Bell cups. It’s an app that could potentially save you money and show you exclusive content before everybody else.
