My Favorite Inspirational Verses

1. 2nd Corinthians. 5:7 “For we walk by faith, not by sight.”

This scripture is important to me, because on a daily basis I see, hear, and think various things. Sometimes the eyes can fool you. What you see is not what you think it might be. So my belief which is my faith helps to sustain me no matter what circumstances look or feel like. This reminds me of another one of my favorite scriptures below:

2. Psalm 118:8 “It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man.”

Even though things may appear a certain way, that does not mean that will be the inevitable. Think about it. Has there been times that it appeared there was no solution for a bad situation? Has there been a time that the doctor said there is nothing more that he could do, but God stepped in and did something about it?

3. Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

My belief and my faith tells me that my body is flesh and will crave fleshly desires. Eventually my physical body may cease to function, but my life is continually eternal. I will just eventually have a new home and a new body. My belief is that once I have accepted Jesus Christ as my personal savior I have eternal life at that moment. So when I attend a funeral of someone that has passed away, I can view it as a “home going.” I can be assured that people can leave their physical bodies to be with Jesus eternally. I can admit that I like the pleasure of earthly material things, but this should not be my main focus. I am reminded that I am just passing through, even though I sometimes might get just a little too comfortable.

4. Roman 12:2 “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”

This scripture is a reminder to me that I change daily, but God never changes. It reminds me that I need to guard what I allow into my spirit. While I cannot control others, I can control myself. I can choose to put goodness into my mind (The word of God), or I can choose to put other things in my mind. It is my belief that words can affect one and can also become a reality. So this scripture reminds me to be particular of what I hear, read, and see. So often when watching television, a program that was rated general and okay for family, may still have language or behavior in it that is not acceptable to be allowed into my spirit. Sometimes even on some sites and on Facebook the language is not discreet. People seemingly have diarrhea of the mouth. Some just say whatever they feel at the moment. Again, I say, I cannot control others, but I can control what I watch and/or listen to.

5. Hebrews 4:12 “For the word of God is alive, and active, and sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.”

It is my belief that there is power in God’s word. Words can become a reality. So why not speak reality to myself. Have you ever known someone to say something so long about themselves or others that it eventually comes to fruition? Words are important. Words can shape beliefs. I remember when I was having a difficult time in life. I was questioning some of my decisions. When I talked with a friend of mine, I recall she always used the word of God to explain. She made it clear that it was not her words, but “This is what the word of God says about it.” I will always remember that, because it did make a great impact on my life.
