It is that time of year to enjoy Christmas lights, music, and a nice cup of hot chocolate or coffee. Just imagine being able to look at miles of lights one after another by walking by them or sitting in your warm, comfortable vehicle with family and friends. Does it sound like a dream? You can actually do this at a place in Marion, Indiana called the walkway of lights. This is a beautiful display of lights that you can drive through as many times as you would like each season for only five dollars a car load!
The Walkway of Lights is located in Marion, Indiana and travels along the Mississinewa River to Matter Park. You can see creative light displays from local businesses and other organizations on display seven days a week from 6PM to 10 PM. This event has been going on for as long as I can remember. There is a gift shop that you can stop at to buy souvenirs and children can visit Santa by the fire. If you are coming from a distance you might want to look into calling ahead to verify Santa will be there when you are visiting if your child wants to see him.
I have always enjoyed going through the Walkway of Lights because they add new ones almost every year. As a young child my family would go see the lights every year. It was a fun, relaxing time to just enjoy listening to Christmas music and looking at the beautiful display of lights. My family made it a tradition that we would go see the lights on Christmas Eve every year.
Most of the lights are Christmas oriented. However they do have other lights that can be looked at that are not Christmas related, such as dinosaurs. I haven’t gone this year to the lights but if I remember right it would take us at least 25 to 30 minutes just to get through the whole thing once. This event is great for all ages, whether, young or old so don’t miss the opportunity to see several lights for a small fee of only five dollars a car load per year. The five dollars will allow you to come back as many times as you would like through the season as long as the walkway of the lights sticker stays on your windshield.
