Joe’s Cause Comedy show was held on September 24th at Behind Bar’s comedy club in Wantagh, NY. A Fundraiser for Joe Croce a Long Island native who was diagnosed with GBM brain cancer. The benefit was organized to help offset the cost of his rising medical bills. Joe has been accepted into a clinical trial based at Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center at Duke University in North Carolina. Neither the cost of the treatment nor the travel expenses are covered under his medical insurance. Hotel, food and other expenses all come out of Joe and his family’s dwindling financial resources. He must travel to N.C. every two months so the doctors can examine him and measure his progress. To help Joe you can make individual donations here at Joe’s Cause. The benefit show held this past Saturday had originally been scheduled for August 27th but had been postponed do to Hurricane Irene. Comedians Jessica Collazo, Rob Civadones, Tim Thompson, Justin “Stoney” Thompson who organized the event and Thomas J Bellezza appeared. Thomas one of the owners of BBR Productions was the host for the evening. Also included during the evenings festivities was an Auction held and conducted by Marc Zakarin and his wife Deb to help bring in money for Joe and his family. They had gift certificates, and Rock and Roll memorabilia and as always Marc did a fantastic job as auctioneer.
This was the second show for to help Joe. The first show was held in Coram, NY at O’briens Ale house Grill on August 24th. Justin Thompson organized this show as well as the Behind Bar’s event. When asked he said, “Joe’s a great guy, and we are all here to help and support him.” Speaking with Joe and his wife at Obrien’s they were both so very thankful for all the support they had received and were optimistic about Joe winning his battle with GBM.
