Each of us is met with seasons of obstacles or stumbling blocks throughout life. Difficulties such as these may lead us to thoughts of worry, fear, depression, anxiety and a host of other distressing feelings. When my mind is under attacked with negative thoughts, I turn to these unfailing inspirational Bible verses. God provides His fruitful and dependable words of peace in exchange for my all my worries. These are just a small number of the many cherished inspirational Bible verses for peace of mind.
Isaiah 26:3-4
Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. Trust ye in the Lord for ever: for in the Lord JEHOVAH is everlasting strength: (AKJV)
There have been countless times when this particular passage has given me peace of mind. These inspirational Bible verses teach me not only to place my mind on the Lord, but to keep it on Him. There were times when I would worry whenever any problems occurred in my life. I began to understand the depths of God’s love toward me. I realized that first I had to trust in Him and He would give me peace in return. When I keep my mind on Him, meditate on His word, and trust in Him, He gives me peace and strength. He destroys and replaces those troublesome thoughts with His reassuring and faithful word. We can have peace of mind knowing that we are able to defeat any trouble that arises when we trust in the Lord.
Philippians 4:8
Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things, are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any praise, think on these things. (AKJV)
This is one of the many inspirational bible verses that encourage us to think about wholesome and pure things. Sometimes events in our lives cause us to battle with thoughts of hatred, deceit, backbiting, adulteries, fornication, lust, pride, or a host of other corrupt thoughts. God is not pleased with these ways and they are sinful in His eyes. These thoughts are like bad seed that produce bad fruit when cultivated, nurtured, and fully grown. Without the proper shield and armor, our minds and even our lives, may become consumed by these parasitic thoughts, especially if we act on them.
Our peace of mind comes from the instructions given in this scripture. To prevent such immoral and unhealthy thoughts we have to make a deliberate decision to meditate on the pure and undefiled word of God. The more we think on true, honest, just, pure, lovely good, and praiseworthy things, the more peace we will have in our hearts.
Joshua 1:9
Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee withersoever thou goest. (AKJV)
Those of us who love God can delight in the truth that He is always with us. I have learned that God never said we would have no problems if we believe in Him, but He promised to give us the strength and courage to stand against and overcome our problems. Whether we experience seasons of joy or trying times, God is always guarding and taking care of us. There is rest from all worry and fear in acknowledging this awesome truth.
Philippians 4:6-7
Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your request be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. (AKJV)
These are very helpful Bible verses to inspire those who have troubled minds. We receive peace through Christ when we take all our cares and worries to God in prayer. This passage tells us to release the concerns or worries we have and instead leave them with God. It also says that we should be thankful. When we appreciate and acknowledge His abundance of mercy, grace, and blessing, joy begins to fill our hearts.
For many years I have relied on these particular inspirational Bible verses for peace of mind and comfort. This scripture tells us that God will give us peace which passes all understanding when we pray and thank Him. I know for myself the power and truth of this passage. I have maintained peace in knowing my cares are in perfect hands and in being thankful for how He continually provides for me. God has given me indescribable peace of mind when I released all of my cares over to Him in prayer.
John 14:27
Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. (AKJV)
Jesus spoke these words to His disciples not long before His crucifixion. He knew they would not immediately understand it was God’s predestined plan for Him to be crucified, die, and afterward resurrect from His death. He also realized that His disciples, as well as all others, who would love and believe in Him would be scorned. Those who shared Gods message of salvation through Jesus Christ would be subject to persecution and ill-treatment on account of their faith.
Here, Jesus comforts His disciples. Although, He would not be with them much longer, He would leave them with His peace. He also said that what He gives is not the same as what the world gives. There is tremendous power in these words. Similarly, John wrote in 1 John 2:16, “For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.” The corrupt and sinful pleasures of this life may come with a measure of gratification, but always result in bitter consequences. The world offers riches, earthly treasures, and material possessions: things that only satisfy temporarily and can never give lasting joy.
Contrary to that, Jesus assured them with soothing and inspirational words; despite the reality that many who loved Him would be stoned, beaten, imprisoned, and experience other perils, they would have divine and inexpressible peace. This verse, like all other unfailing promises from Christ, is still relevant to believers today. When suffering persecution or reproach, we can have peace knowing our suffering is not in vain, that we are suffering for good, and that it will ultimately earn us an eternal reward. No matter what the adversity is, God will provide us with amazing peace.
There are so many Bible verses that are inspirational and have given me peace without fail. These are just a small number of scriptures that many people have sought refuge in. Hopefully they will help to quiet any storm that has left your mind without rest.
