How to Get a Workout at Your Corporate Job

One of the biggest obstacles to working out is lack of time. People spend more than half of their days at work. Why not use that time to get a workout? Believe it or not, you can get plenty of exercise at your corporate job. Here are some easy ways to get a workout while working at your corporate job.

Take the Stairs

If you have the choice between taking the stairs and riding an elevator, always take the stairs. Climbing stairs is a great work out. Fitness trainers build entire exercise routines around using stairs. Take advantage of the stairs at your workplace. Use them whenever you can. It may not seem like much, but this little change can make a big difference in your daily exercise.

Take a Walk

A simple 15-minute walk during work will do wonders. Again, this may not seem like much. But if you walk once during every work day, you will accumulate one hour and 15 minutes a week. Compare that to the zero minutes of exercise you may be getting now. If you are busy at work, combine your daily walk with informal meetings. If someone needs an answer from you, make them walk with you.

Stretch at Your Desk

You can perform many different stretching exercises right at your desk. This is a simple thing you can do while you are reading documents, talking on the phone or taking a break. Do not feel weird about stretching at your desk. It is more popular than you think. [book: Stretching in the Office by Bob Anderson]

Stand Up

If you sit for long periods of time at work, take a moment to stand up. Research has shown that sitting for too long is bad for your health. Remember to stand up often. Take a quick walk around the office. This simple activity will promote good health and burn calories.

Exercise During Lunch

Use your lunch hour for a more formal work out. Go to a gym, take a jog or ride a bicycle. Make up the time by eating at your desk while you work. A formal workout requires commitment. But you are at work and work can wait.

These are some ways to get a workout while you work. With exercise, every little bit helps. There are no more excuses. If you have time to work, you have time to work out.
