Have you ever wondered if and how God communicates to people? It is simple and takes some asking, but God is willing to “talk” with you in unique ways that you can be certain of. The prophets of old were also termed Seers, because they had visions,
1Sa 9:9 (Beforetime in Israel, when a man went to enquire of God, thus he spake, Come, and let us go to the seer: for [he that is] now [called] a Prophet was beforetime called a Seer.)
These men did not physically see something, in which case everyone else could see it also, but subjectively saw it. The saw it in their own minds.
Men also have heard from God in the same way, not physically, which anyone else would also hear it, but, to use a figure of speech, in their mind they heard it.
Isa 30:21 And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This [is] the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.
These events occurred to men who had the spirit on them, Jesus came to put spirit in us. With spirit you can then hear, see, feel, subjectively Gods communication with you.
Jhn 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, [that] shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
The problem arises because your imagination can “get in the way”. However, with a little knowledge and a little practice you can learn to know when it is God and when it is your imagination. The key is that every thought you have is really a subjective experience and is different is some way. Example: think of something in your past, and pay attention to how you think about it, then think about something in the future and pay attention to how you think about it. There will be a difference and it is unique to you. For instance someone may think about their past and the images they see in their mind is black, white and shades of gray, but the future appears in their mind as color.
When God communicates with you it is very unique and quite different from you imagination. A person may experience this communication in their mind as colorful, big and very shiny. It is always unique to the individual. So ask God and pay attention to how communicates and in time you will quickly tell your own imagination from Gods communication.
2Ki 6:17 And Elisha prayed, and said, LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain [was] full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.
