Hanging Wine Bottle Art

Who ever throws away a wine bottle? After all, you can put flowers in it and use it as a vase, slap a new label on it and use it as a table number at a wedding, and you can even fill the bottle with the heads of silk flowers and use it as a decorator piece in your home. And those are just some of the simple projects. There are many other things you can create when you use a glass cutter. Oops, there went all the readers! Many people just don’t want to bother with a glass cutter or they’ve tried cutting glass and that hasn’t worked out so well. Since you have a wine bottle or two that you haven’t thrown away you might be interested in a project that, although it takes only a couple of minutes to make, it creates a beautiful and unique decorator piece – indoors or out.

When you make a hanging wine bottle arrangement you have lots of choices. Hang just one or hang many. Align the hanging bottles in a row or hang them at varying heights. No matter what type of arrangement you want to craft just start by purchasing two eye hooks and a piece of chain. One eye hook should be somewhat large; it will be the hook that holds the bottle. Screw it into the ceiling to hold the chain.

Use a small eye hook as the one that goes into the bottle. After the bottle is empty, rinsed out, and clean, cork it. Make sure the cork is secure in the bottle and then screw the smaller hook into it. Twist and screw the eye hook right in the center of the cork. After it’s secure hook the end link of the chain to it. Just pry open the link, slide the eye screw on it, then squeeze the link closed again. This can be done with needle-nose pliers. Do the same to the opposite end to attach the chain to the ceiling hook.

There is a huge variety of pieces you can make from the hanging bottle(s). Paint some of the bottles using paints made especially for glass. Or, create a new label for the bottle; it can say anything you want it to. Give the bottles additional accents by placing things inside of them. Fill the bottles with silk flower heads, twisted lengths of wire, stiffened fabric strips, marbles, colored rocks, or other choices.

Hang a single wine bottle in a corner of your home for an interesting accent. Or, create an overhead arrangement, featuring many bottles – hanging at varying lengths – for a wedding reception or other party. The bottles are gorgeous, unique, and so simple to create.
