Gas Price Effects on the Average Americans

As I watch the prices rise I go to my budget to see how it is affecting me. A trip to the supermarket immediately startles me to reality. Items I purchased last week are now 10 to 30 cents higher. As gas prices rise so do the prices of every thing else. Heating oil has also spiked, but we heat with wood. But the chain saw and wood splitter run on gas. I need new wiper blades for my car. I priced them last week and when I went in today they were 90 cents more this week.

Everything that has to be transported is going up. As the farmers start to plant the fields, their crops are going to have to go up to pay for the fuel. There is no end to it.

Living in a rural area there is no public transportation and everything is miles away requiring us to drive, even to pick up our mail, which we only pick up once a week. Pharmacy, doctors, grocery stores, gas stations, movie theaters, banks are all 3 to 14 miles away. We try very hard to combine all our trips into one to save on gas, and we have a fuel efficient car.

Please take the time to take the time to track your daily trips in your car, the fuel you use for heating and cooking. lights, hot water, and let’s see what you can do without.
Listening to all the political rhetoric I do not hear any candidate coming up with a solution. Those in power seem to be doing nothing. It looks like we will all be on welfare or food stamps soon. Something has to give sooner or later. Being on fixed income we cannot survive all these increases.
